Why do most people think it's illegal? I think people should be less ignorant and more aware of their laws. In the majority of the states it is perfectly legal for a 16-17 year old male/female to have sex with whoever older person they desire, no matter how old they are. So when someone asks: I'm 16 and my Boyfriend is 20? Don't be so quick to say It's illegal. It's called Age of Sexual Consent. Just being informative here. Thanks

Lol no I'm not part of it. It's just that I see SO MANY people get attacked here when they ask this question. Ignorant people who don't know about laws and they make these poor people asking the questions feel bad. I see that here a LOT.

Kate M: Teachers are figures of authority. It is illegal for a teacher to have sex with a student who is under 18. That is the Nation Wide law. Also, I advise you to read more carefully, as I said "In the Majority of the states, it is perfectly legal for a 16-17 year old male/female to have sex with whoever older person they desire." While not "teachers" since they are authority figures, that statement is true. It's called Age of Sexual Consent. Look it up. Some states are 18, some are 16-17.

I Hate this also....the problem is that in the pornography industry the legal age to appear naked in a sexual way is 18, that is federally mandated, so the porn industry has spread this idea that "barely legal" is 18 therefore people think that barely legal means, barely legal to have sex, but the reality is its barely legal to appear in sexually explicit media not to have sex.

So, that sucks, there are many states where the age of consent is under 18.

Statutory rape is exactly that "stat==state" the states mandate the age of consent in there respective state, many states allow under 18 to consent to sex with those above the age of 18.

Teachers that have sex with there 16-17 year old students get in trouble because many states rule that illegal because the teacher is in a position of authority over the 16-17 year old--this is a no-no.

I find that funny, considering there have been a few cases where older men have gone to jail for having sex with girls that are 16-17. Wonder why all those high school teachers are sent packing and charged with crimes when "it is perfectly legal for a 16-17 year old male/female to have sex with whoever older person they desire, no matter how old they are" as you state. Maybe you should do some research as well.

this relies upon upon which state. some states say the age of consent is 17 for a lady and 20 for a boy. some say 18 and some say as youthful as 15. Why not ask bill Clinton this question/ he's from Ark and that i'm confident he ought to recognize.

No it does not. I was brought the legal papers from a 16 year old who I turned down because I was scared to even date him. But that still didn't matter. But no is the answer.

I believe the age of consent is 18. So, your boyfriend could be charged with statutory rape. If both partners are below 18, then both could be charged with rape. It doesn't matter if there is consent, as long as one of you is under 18, then it is considered rape.

sex and relation is supposed to be between two people, not telecast, if it stayed between two people then it wouldnt be a problem ever. ive not ever had sex with anyone i wasnt dating, havent ever cheated either, and rarely ever told anyone about someone i had sex with honestly.
