It's gone, cancel whatever was in it, the cash you will never see again. Hope it wasn't an expensive purse or your favorite purse because if your purse isn't found/returned within the first hour or so of you losing track of it, chances are you won't ever get it back unless you pray for a miracle to happen.
I hope I'm wrong, but where I work, when customers lose their purse, by the time they ask us if someone turned it in, we already have it (someone already found it and turned it in).
The times they ask us if anyone found their purse and we do not have it, they never see it again.
Good Luck

That sounds like a nightmare, but depending on when you lost it, hopefully recently you should be able to contact the actual cab company, there are still a few honest people out there and I pray for you that one of them finds your purse and retruns it to you.
You should be tracking your credit cards, if you haven't already and just keep calling the hotel and the cab company cause new people come on and off shifts and there's always a chance that the note may not be passed on, also a describtion of the cab driver (if you remember) would help too... GOOD LUCK

Cancel all your cards and cell phone, and don't hold your breath waiting for a call. Unfortunately in DC, unlike New York City, cabs are unregulated, so there is not one company that owns and operates all the cabs. There are many different cab companies and some companies only have one or two cars themselves. The airport cab stand is very nice to try and ask the drivers, but they deal with so many on a given day, who knows if they will ever find it. So sorry for this pain in the neck, I hope it turns out well for you.

If the cab company has already been called, that's about all you can do. You might want to go ahead and cancel your credit cards.
