I'm not a Crisco kind of gal, so can I use butter in place of "shortening" in a recipe? Does it matter?

yes you can, but note that butter is 20% water, and crisco is 100% fat. It can throw off a recipe if your not carefull.

That depends on what you are making. With pie crust it is okay. Some things are better with butter. It's okay with cookies, but the texture will be different.

I've always heard that substituting won't affect the taste, but it will the texture. Hope this helps.
