This is so that I know what can be done about it and how best to respond to it.

You know, my father is the forgetful type, but selectively forgetful. He can tell you every detail of a golf match but can not remember to call and talk to the grand kids that made and sent him that father's day gift. He will argue with you about the details of some crazy long forgotten thing and then seems to have forgotten how to read a calendar or pick up a phone - and he sure can remember how long it's been since you called him, but he has no idea how long it's been since he called you.

Now that is one thing to deal with in a friend or a boyfriend or a coworker - but when it is your parent, you kind of get fed up after 40 years, you know?

Peace!
