Gatte Ka Pulao
For the gattas
* Gatte Ka Pulao1 cup Bengal gram flour (besan)
* 1 teaspoon chilli powder
* teaspon fennel seeds (saunf)
* ½ teaspoon ajwain (carom seeds)
* 1 tablespoon curds
* 2 tablespoons oil
* salt to taste
* oil for deep frying
Combine all the ingredients and knead to make a stiff dough adding a little water, if required. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a 100 mm. (4") long 5 mm. (1/6") diameter cylindrical roll. Boil plenty of water and put the gatta strands in it. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes. When cooked, drain the gattas and keep aside. Cut the gattas into small pieces when cool. Deep fry the gatta pieces in hot oil. Drain on absorbent paper and keep aside.
For the pulao
* 1½ cups cooked long grain rice
* 1 onion, sliced
* 1 cardamom (elaichi)
* 2 cloves
* ½ teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)
* ½ teaspoon mustard seeds (rai)
* ¼ teaspoon asafoetida (hing)
* 1 teaspoon chilly powder
* ½ teaspoon turmeric powder (haldi)
* ½ teaspoon garam masala
* 1 tablespoon oil
* salt to taste
* Paste of 4 cloves garlic
* Paste of 2 green chillies
* 1 tsp ginger paste
* 2 tbsp onion paste
* chopped coriander
Deep fry the sliced onions in hot oil. Drain on absorbent paper and keep aside. Heat the oil in a pan and add the cardamom, cloves, cumin seeds, mustard seeds and asafoetida. Add the prepared paste and sauté for 4 to 5 minutes. Add the cooked rice, deep fried onions, deep fried gattas, chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala and salt and mix well. Serve hot, garnished with coriander.

I think Gatte ka Pulao is a Rajsthani Dish which is taken with Kari....anyway i have found the recipe for the same

Serves / Makes : 5
Ingredients
For gattas
1 cup besan
2 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp each salt, chillie powder, jeera powder

1 cup basmati rice (soaked for 1 hr)
2 cloves
2 cardamom
4 tej patta
1 cm dalchini
2 tbsp pure ghee
a few cashewnut
2 cups water
Method
1. Mix besan with all the spices and oil.
2. Knead it into dough using very little water.
3. Divide it in four equal parts and roll it in long tubes.
4. Put these tubes in boilling water and boil for 5 minutes.
5. Remove from water and cut in one cm. pieces
6. Deep fry these pieces (gattas) till golden brown.
7. In a pan, heat ghee add cloves, cardamom, tej patta, dalchini.
8. After a few seconds, add gattas, cashew nuts, rice and salt to taste, stir fry for a min., add water, cover it and let it cook till done.
9. Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve hot.

a pinch soda bi carbonate
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp ginger chopped

Stir fry in two cup of boiling water for ten to fifteen minutes.
Drain.
Let the gattas cool a bit.

Heat up ghee, mix in cumin seeds, when they crackle mix in whole garam masala, stir fry for a minute then mix in asafoetida powder.
Mix in turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, coriander powder and ginger paste, stir fry for 2-3 minutes.
Mix in drained rice stir fry for 1 minute, mix in salt and 4 cup water.
When the water starts boiling mix in the gattas and peas, cover and stir fry till all water is absorbed and rice is done.
Serve hot.
