This may provoke some outcry, but I will tell you the proper sequence in which to down a shot of Tequila:
1: Lick the fleshy part of your hand between your thumb and
forefinger
2: sprinkle salt on the moistened area
3: insert area into your mouth and lick off the salt
4: down the shot of tequila in one gulp
5: immediately suck on the lime wedge
6: shake your head back and forth, say "Bblbblbblrrrrrrrrr!", and then, "ahhAAhhaa"
7: repeat as necessary
Remember: salt,tequila,lime,bblbblbblblrrrrrrrrrr.

tequila! and the lemon or lime is to make the taste just a little bit better and to cut back on how harsh it is as well

Tequila, usually the cheaper brands - balances out the poor taste. Patron Anejo is always enjoyed neat - no salt or citrus!!

there's also a shot, called a lemondrop, that is followed by a lemon slice, sometimes dipped in sugar, yummy:)
