My suggestion is to maybe have 2 maids of honor. Make your sister a Jr. MOH and pick someone a little older to be Sr. MOH (or have a married friend as a Matron of Honor). I say this because if you are having a traditional reception is she going to be able to make a speech? She can't drive to the store and get bobby pins last minute, etc. She also my be a little shy to dance with the best man during the wedding party dance. What it comes down to is it's your wedding and you can do as you please. Just be aware that you may have to make some changes to the "traditional" wedding reception.
PS Congrats!!!

Yes that is fine. HOWEVER it may piss your friends off. And the problem with having an 11 year old in an important position means that she can't handle it.
The maid of honor is suppose to help organize things such as the bridal shower and bachelorette party and help with anything else you need.
Flower girl would be better or junior bridesmaid.
First of all you don't want a bachelorette party with any little kids it is strickly 21+.
Next you cant expect your friends to step up and act as the maid of honor when they were not given the title.
If you want a child to be your maid of honor you will have to expect many set backs and upsetting your friends. Expect no parties or make sure your mom or aunts are willing to plan it all.

I may even pass towards the grain. I suppose your first-class pal will have to be your guy of honor. Your sister is just too younger and there are plenty of tasks and charges that pass at the side of being the maid of honor. If your first-class pal says no, I nonetheless would not select your sister. A bridesmaid, sure, maid of honor no. She's slightly ancient sufficient to be a bridesmaid and now not be viewed a jr bridesmaid. But it is your marriage ceremony so do it such as you wish it.

i am getting married in 8 weeks and 2 days. my little sister is 8years old and she is my Bridesmaid along with my 26 year old best friend. I wouldn't have it any other way! I'm 22 aswell so yes there is still quite a age gap. I also have my 20year old brother walking me down the aisle because my mum and dad slipt up when i was 5 & 1/2 years, so i didn't know who to chose from my real dad or step dad without hurting the other! when i was at my dad's second wedding i was 10years old and they made me the flower girl becaust they thought i was 'too young'. i hated being treated like that, so i asked my sister what she would prefer.. she wanted to be part of the bridal party. congratulation on your up and coming wedding i wish you all the best for your future together! hope this helps!!! xoxo

Your family always comes first. I tell you this most young girls pick a friend and believe me when I say you will most likely not be friends years from now and when you look back at those photos it would be nice to see someone you care about.
11 or 30 if she means that much to you, you should have her as your maid of honor. It would also probably mean the world to her.

I agree, go for it! For my wedding, I looked at the maid of honor position as who is the person I most wanted to be at my side in sharing this day with me? If that's your little sis, I see no reason why not. Enjoy your Big Day!!

Do what you want. If she's your best friend and that's who you want what does age have to do with it. There are roles the maid of honor is supposed to help w/ but your bridesmaids can fill in the gaps.

I think it sounds really sweet. There's no age requirement. (If you were really worried about it, you could just have no maid of honor, and your sister could be a special flower girl or something. But at 11 she's probably mature enough.)

End of the day is your wedding - but personally I think she is too young - make her a bridesmaid sure - she will be very happy with that.
And oh yeah - really great idea to have her as maiden of honour then ask the other bridesmaids you blanked to do the actual work - they are sure to really love that.
