Im told that "Hell" is cold because its so far from Gods warmth, Im told Hell is on fire so that sinners can burn, im told that Hell is black because it doesn't possess the light that God created, etc.
Am I gonna get Bar-B-Qued by some red scaley midgets with pitchforks, viper gaited tails, and goat horns? Whats your take on it?

It almost seems like Hell was created to scare people into believing the opposite of what it is!

There's these three guys that rock up to the gates of heaven.
St Peter checks each of their names, none are in his book, so he directs them to the mass of gardens that surround heaven.
"Follow this path and it will take you to Hells Gate"
The three men follow the path past beautiful waterfalls, through an enormous forest, and around manicured flower beds. At the end of the path they find a small fiery demon with his own book.
The demon checks their names. All their names are in his book. One is an adulterer, another a blasphemer, the third is a heathen.
First the adulterer is invited behind the desk to a door, behind the door is a chute with flames coming from it, leading to the pits of hell. As the door is opened he is drawn into it with a whimper.
Another door appears for the blasphemer, it is opened and his limbs are torn from him, finally, screaming in terror, his torso and head disappear through the foul passage.
Then, the demon goes back to his book.....
The heathen, in fear, asks what is to become of him.
Laughing, the demon explains.... "My friend, you have the run of the place. Those two were Christians, they wouldn't have it any other way. Welcome to the Summerlands. You may await your time of rebirth here, but please, stay away from the fenced off area. YHWH gets bit upset if those others realise they are locked in and it can take the other Gods weeks to calm him down."

Most of the terminology concerning hell is symbolic. I haven't heard about it being cold, but if people describe it that way I would assume because it is void of God's presence, so it feels empty in your soul.
Fire symbolizes condemnation.
Darkness symbolizes essentially both emptiness and condemnation.
Naturally you can't have fire and darkness at the same time, the fire would give off light, and you can't have fire and cold at the same time because fire is warm. Thus it is symbolic.
The idea that people will torture you in heaven is not Biblical. I think hell is simply a place where you will be left alone with your sinful nature, and you wont feel pain, but you will feel emptiness and regret for "messing up".

Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off; it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet be cast into Hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched....
I find this interesting since they recently found cracks in the bottom of the ocean floor with volcanic "fire" or magma leaking out. And guess what they found near those holes? Giant worms. The worm that dieth not perhaps? Even more interesting, the worms are at least 250 years old, which is really unusual for this type of creature (without a backbone)

Dr. : I'm a Christian, and I don't know where you get your information from ... but there is NO SUCH THING AS A HELL FIRE ! "Hell" comes from the Greek word "hades" (from which, the Holy Bible [New Testament] was written) and "hades" translated means, "grave" or "hole" - not an eternal place for "souls" . In short, everyone goes to hell [grave] when he or she dies !!! By the way; what kind of BBQ sauce do you like ?

In the bible there was a rich man who died and was in hell. He looked across and saw the poor man, who had died, being comforted "in Abraham's bosom". The rich man asked that someone take their finger and dip it in the water to touch the tip of his tongue, the fire was so hot.
Hell is not anywhere that any thinking person would ever want to find themselves. And I mean this as a friend, not in a shaking my finger in your face way. I really mean it...please don't joke about this.

Hell = pitch black+fire that don't give off light. Doesn't sound naturally sound but then again, hell isn't a natural place either.
It's not gonna be grandma pinchin your cheeks for all eternity. It's gonna be tremendous pain and you will wish you could die. Sorry to be extreme but i'm just giving you the info you asked for.

(Mark 9:43-48) Jesus said, "And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into Hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off; it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet be cast into Hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the Kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into Hell fire: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched."
