Thankyou
Dont worry, I no doubt dont have a fantastic way of explaining it either. I only ask to get a feel of what christians think when they hear those words used.

No has used the word 'Probability' in the definition, though 'Fergi the Great came' close

There Are Different Forms of the Scientific Method.
But it is enlightening to see what christians think is meant by 'Scientific Method' . Some obviosuly know what they are talking about. The others are .... interesting.

I am not the only Christian Biochemist I know.
The scientific method is a means of deductive reasoning by which all realms of possibility are eliminated until only the truth remains. Effective application of the SM depends on correct experiment design wherein one establishes a hypothesis and then tries to disprove the null-hypothesis (opposite of the hypothesis) by means of experimentation. If there is enough evidence to reject the null-hypothesis, that DOES NOT mean the hypothesis is true. If there is not enough evidence to discard the null-hypothesis, further testing is required.
Over a long and arduous period, true science never proves anything. It will only provide sufficient evidence to discard all other alternatives until only the truth remains.

Ok, you are getting a lot of really complicated ways of saying I don't know. And just in case you weren't sure the bible DOES NOT say the earth is millions or billions of years old. Going purely by biblical dating it says the earth is roughly 6000 years old. But here is my answer...
1. Seeing something that has happened
2. Forming a theory or hypothisis about why what has happened occured
3. Using this theory to predict future events and discovery
4. Perform experiments that recreate the original occurance and thus prove the theory or if not, disprove it.
If it is proven repeatedly then it will be accepted as fact
This is why I don't believe in evolution. The "proof" keeps being disproven, dating has anomolies (must be the equipment not the theory), there has been no predictable reoccurance, and yet it is being taught as fact and people think you are stupid if you believe anything different. Years ago people believed that earth was flat, that it was the center of the universe, that the sun revolved around the earth, that black people were genetically inferior to white people. Turns out they were wrong.
My beliefs are based on faith, not science. And to be honest if an evolutionist claimed the same I would respect him more. However, my beliefs have NEVER been disproved by science either, theirs have.
Thanks for the question though.

I was born Roman Catholic and familiar with the christian religion....and many others. I have read many books of scripture.
All religions believe in a god or supreme being.
The scientific method is based on theory...ie..belief...it is all the same ..but some of us need to think there is some "reward" if we are good all are life.
The universe is filled with many questions that we do not have the knowledge or instruments to answer.

The application of science in a systematic method for determining the nature of an object, substance or event in the physical universe. I think of the tests and studies used to answer a question, from something as simple as what is a can made of to something as difficult as how old is the earth. pretty simple right?

Form a hypothesis. Set up an experiment to test your hypothesis. Record your observations. Re-test, changing only one variable at a time. Reach a conclusion based upon the observations.

There is a very thin line where Christianity and Science meet and 99% of the time Science tries to explain the unexplainable and Christianity explains the unexplainable.

I don't worry, but thanks for the concern.
Scientific method is the methodology for determining a specific scientific theory or fact.
The Bible has no controversy whatsoever with true science.
Yes, I know some say there is - but thats not Biblical.
The Bible states this earth is billions and billions of years old.
no controversy.
