You do realize that tanning booths can cause a type of skin cancer that is way worse than that caused by the sun, don't you?

Any time you damage your skin like that, you are seriously increasing your risk of skin cancer. Why would you do that to yourself?

My close friend died from a very agressive form of melanoma when he was 26, and he always used to go to tanning salons.

Even if it does not hurt that is your skin's way of telling you that have you overexposed yourself, and OVEREXPOSURE is what causes cancers, NOT tanning itself.

If you burn, take a break until the burn is gone. If you continue to tan while burned, no matter how severe, you will continue to overexpose yourself and make it much worse, and there is a 50/50 chance you will notice a slight tan underneath the burn, but that is simply because when you tan your skin has it's max point.

Say your max point is 10 minutes, and you do 12, you will produce a great looking tan in 10 minutes, but for those 2 extra minutes your skin will be overexerted. So yes, there is a tan underneath that burn, but you NEVER EVER need to burn to tan. Burning stops the tanning processn because you need to stop tanning, wait for the burn to go away, and then continue tanning.

No, do not go out to tan if you already have a sunburn (in fact, it's probably best to avoid going out to tan at all, but if you must, make sure your skin is in good shape when you start)
