Because when you have a split end the tips are dead and damaged and it works its way up the hair then your hair will get brittle and start breaking off (notice the ends thinning?) it's because your hair is breaking off therefore not getting longer. If you keep it trimmed (ask for 1/2 inch at a time) the damaged part will not work its way up and stay healthy at the bottoms.
If you want to grow your hair fast, keep it in a tight french braid and sleep in it every night, or at least pull it back in a tight pony tail.

Trimming your hair is always best. If you don't trim your hair, you will end up getting split ends, especially if you have thin hair. These split ends will then stop your hair from growing and will ruin it too, then your hair won't get really long and it won't be healthy. Plus, not all of your hair will be even. Some will get really long and some will stop at a certain length due to split ends. Trimming it will cut off the split ends and make your hair healthy.

getting your ends clipped will make your hair healthier. I get my ends clipped about every 4 weeks after a touch-up and my hair has grown almost 5 inches in 3 months. When I tried growing my hair without getting trims (i was scared I'd be bald) my hair didn't get any length, I'm sure it grew, but my ends broke more and more each time I combed or brushed my hair. To make your hair grow wash it regularly, avoid heat as much a possible, keep your hair conditioned, avoid hats and ponytail holders with the metal part, or too tight ponytails, most importantly, cover your hair when sleeping. Try a satin or silk scarf or pillow case This avoids rubbing and breaking of your hair.

Getting your hair trimmed does not make ur hair grow faster. The reason why you do this is so as your hair grows the ends are healthier. If you do not trim your ends regularly....your ends will split more upward causing you to have to cut more off, there fore defeating the purpose of growing out you hair. If your looking for hair to grow faster, try taking a daily vitamin.

It's true and false too. If you trimmed it , it will be shorter but healthier looking. But if u don't trimmed it, the split ends will break making your hair difficult to grow longer. I had actually cut mine bout 5 to 6 inch. : ( But only a month it had growth maybe half inch? Yes cut all the damage hair and your hair will be healthy enough to grow faster than the split ends.

It's kind of like gardening: if you don't weed a garden your flowers aren't getting all the nutrients that they need. If you get rid of the weeds the flowers have a much better chance of thriving. If hair is damaged (usually at the ends) the damage can travel up the hair shaft, making regrowth much harder.
I cut several inches off my hair about 6 weeks ago & it's grown so much faster than it did when it was longer. I can tell because I color my hair & my roots are so much more noticeable than before. Just get a trim every 6 - 8 weeks to keep your hair healthy.

Cutting split ends won't make your hair grow faster or longer, but what it will do is prevent the split from making it's way further up the hair shaft, damaging the entire strand. You cut split ends so they don't continue to split the hair because this is damaging to the hair. Think about it...it takes a month for your hair to grow about 1/2" (at most), so if you're hair is very long, those ends are several years old (at least). Thus, cutting split ends just makes long hair easier to maintain because if you don't cut them, you might have to chop off a lot of hair down the road because you didn't take care of it and it split, frizzed, and frayed.

sorry i don't know why, but i just got a haircut after a year of trying to grow it long and the stylist took like 5 inches off because she said the ends were really damaged. i didn't want to take that much off, but your hair will be healthier from getting trimmed. Though, you don't need to trim it that much. Just once every 6 months would be good.

I'm not very sure if it makes it grow faster, but it makes it look really shiny and healthy, and the longer you wait to get them cut off, they'll gradually go up, and then you'll just have to cut more off. If you get your hair trimmed every 6 months, then it will stay really healthy. Another tip; If you brush your hair every night before bed then it makes your hair really soft and shiny.

If you do get split ends and they continue to split up your head, your hair ends up looking really ratty and just... bad. Honesly, it will take a little longer to grow out your hair when you trim it but it's worth it in the end to have healthy looking hair.
