(Lol) This question is what everyone thinks about but avoids talking about.

My Mother is a nurse, and we had a conversation about this a couple of weeks back. Her response was that supposedly 80% of humans have worms (Think about it, we worm our pets; dogs, cats, horses, etc; every couple of months, humans are mammals and subject to the same ailments) however, she's a nurse, and the kind of nursing she practices, in a hospital, requires her to witness BM's and clean intestines (upper). So far: she's never seen any worms (and this puzzles her).

If you're that scared about the entire thing I do know that there are medicines and prescriptions out there, but a close friend's mom said she had taken an herbal supplement for this specific reason and ended up with scars all over her back due to the "worms" trying to get out of her system.

When I was in the third grade my best friend was on medication for worms. I don't remember much, but we were not allowed to touch her....

Some people believe that the more unheatlhy you are, the bigger the worms are. I know this probably didn't answer your question (at least not scientifically) but at least I've relayed my experiences with human worms...

Ugh, I just went through this about a year ago with my youngest son. His doc said that they are very common and easily transmitted. Pin worms look like a small white thread and they do squirm. I figured out that my son had them when I was changing his diaper and saw one on his butt. The doc prescribed a med and the whole house had to be treated. You can also get med over the counter, it is called pinx. If you suspect pin worms wash pjs and bedding daily (I read the eggs can live on surfaces for a few days.) Also shower in the am (they come out of the rectum at night to lay their eggs.)Apparently pin worms can even live in the dirt and that is one way that you can get them. That is all the experience I have with worms. I know that humans can get tape and hook worms to.

(1) The hookworm latches on the walls of the colon with its sharp teeth where it feeds on blood.
(2) The tapeworm is the longest parasite. A mature adult can lay a million eggs a day. (3) Tapeworm eggs embedded in the colon. (4) The roundworm can grow to be 20 inches (50 cm) long and lay 200,000 eggs per day. (5) Pinworms migrate outside the colon during the night to lay their eggs around the anus. This causes the nightly itching of many unsuspecting victims.

The most common human worms are pin worms.
They are very small, look like white thread and wiggle.
They are light sensitive, so it's very hard to see them.
They will hide from light and air.
The medicine for that is called Wormex - small white pills.
