The deal in my class is that if we do 15 hours of valid community service, they will reduce the weight of the final exam in one of my classes..

My goal is to work with women who have barriers to employment and help them to provide a better life for themselves and their families. (I'm not wanting to do this just for the sake of the class, but because this is something I've wanted to do for a long time).

I have to do the community service through a valid agency (cannot be done through a church) and the proposed project has to be approved by the instructor.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can do this community service project? I have to approach the head of the agency and see if they will accept the project. Any ideas on what I could do to help these women within the scope of this project?

I would recommend that you work through your local volunteer center. They have the resources and relationships with the various non-profit agencies in your community to connect you with projects that meet your interests.
