The way that Goths look will confuse any Christian. The bible teaches Christians to look different from the world. The hairstyles and clothes that Goths wear is of the world. Some even think the dark world. Do not take it personal. But most people in this world put people into groups and do not look at them as individuals.

I have a goth friend who is Christian. She goes to a liberal-minded church called "the black sheep" or something. It's a Catholic church, but it is open for everyone, and many homeless kids walk in with bare feet and there's not so much pomp and ceremony.
I guess that a lot of Christian ppl presume that ppl who dress in black and so on tend to be Satanists or drawn to the "dark side". I'm sure you'll find a welcoming church somewhere.

I know lots of goths who are Christians. Unfortunately, in the organized religions of today, when you go into any number of the churches, they judge people like crazy. Whats worse, is that lots of them still make a divorced person sit in the back pew; or, another example is my mom is methodist, but my dad was catholic, so we were brought up catholic - but my mom isn't allowed to be buried with the rest of us. Look, this isn't what God ordered - these are all the acts of stupid ignorant men.
God loves you just the way you are, and probably often remarks at how well-dressed you are.

It's a stereotype, unfortunately. I'm assuming that you wear a lot of black (I'm bad, I'm sorry), and black is considered a dark, evil, negative color (I LOVE black but not for those reasons), so anything evil will be associated with satan. It's widespread, possibly from movies and tv shows portraying a villian in black. I understand where you are coming from, a little. When I used to go to church in middle school, I always wore baggy pants and a tee shirt because I felt comfortable with myself in that, and the girls that got all pretty in dresses and make up looked at me different. It didn't help that I was shy, either.
But you know what? Those churches that thought differently have a hard time seeing past your looks don't deserve you.

I guess they look upon them as dark.. even dark arts..
Some even put Goths in the same critieria as Pagans,
and we know what some christians think of Pagans.
It is only Stereotypical of Some Christians but not all.
Do what you feel is right for you.
Don't let others change your belief or ideals.
Your not hurting anyone .. your just being you..
From a Pagans point of view..
Blessings ALD

Christianity and Goth are kind of opposed, don't you think?
If you are following God why would you follow a social trend? Doesn't God come first? Which includes not chasing people away or giving them the wrong impression with your appearnace - sounds like you say you follow God but are doing what you want to do.

The original punk / goth people in the 70's dressed in the manner you speak of to show a distain for society and were opposed to society's religious beliefs. They didn't dress that way just to dress that way , there was a meaning behind it.That meaning is lost now. But pretty much you can dress however you will. Screw what they think. They are going to think what they will, there is no stopping it.

As a christian I would have to say we are to be Christ like in how we live. Wearing goth garb and defacing your body with tattoos and piercing is hardly Christ like. Those things are worn as a defiance to society and to draw attention to yourselves. Sorry but it's not "all about you"! If you truly are born again you should be more interested in sharing the gospel than showing what a "rebel" you are to society. One would have to question your salvation. I would encourage you to read in the NT the book of John then see where you stand. Sorry to sound judgemental but that's how I view it.

Once again, you are dealing with the imperfections of humanity. Its not right for them to do it, and the only thing you can do is pray and maybe talk to a few people one on one, until it spreads through out the church (even though you shouldn't have to do this)
