Hi there...tapeworms are caused by when an animal ingests a flea from grooming themselves. Unless you are your children are actually eating fleas you all will be quite safe from tapeworms. However, your cat needs to be dewormed to eliminate the tapeworms.

No, unless you eat the fleas. This is how cats and dogs get tapeworms, by eating a flea that is an intermediate host to the tapeworm.
Roundworms are different. You can get roundworms if you don't wash your hands after cleaning up infected feces or after handling the dirt where the feces were, and then eat or put your hand to your mouth.

Tape worms are usually cause by the consumption of a flea who has eaten the eggs of a tapeworm or from rodents. Unless you or your child eat a flea, you will be fine. Take your cat to the vet to get some medicine for it, it isn't too expensive especially if you can get them to agree to a no office visit charge (we did that with one of ours). MAke sure you get your cat on a monthly flea preventative like Frontline or something (NOT over the counter, those can be deadly) this SHOULD prevent furthur tape worms to develop.

its highly unlikely to be harmful to you. in the worst possible case scenario (highly unlikely) where u would get tapeworm from ur cat, here is an interesting note: in the past , they use to sell wieght loss pills that actually just gave the user tapeworm!! it is not fatal but eats some of the hosts food.

Get your cat wormed today and demand on good hygiene for you infants and your self. Tapeworms could properly be dispensed to human beings. Wash your palms throughly after looking after or fidgeting with your cat. keep it off beds and gentle furnishings till the concern is solved.

Cats will lose a few whiskers from time to time. However, if they're losing a lot of whiskers or if the condition seems to be prolonged, it can be an early sign of illness. In that case, you'd want to have your cat examined by your veterinarian, particularly if the whisker loss is accompanied by other symptoms like bad breath, other hair loss, or discharge from the eyes, ears or anus.
