The cat is definitely old enough to start spraying, and more than old enough to neuter. Males reach sexual maturity between six and eight months of age usually, and that's also when they'll start spraying.

Neutering *usually* helps prevent spraying but not always. However, it will definitely reduce the inclination to roam and get into frequent fights with other cats, and fighting can also spread disease (saliva and blood borne pathogens). He will become much more affectionate toward you then.

Additionally, by neutering, you will help to prevent the increase of unwanted kitties.

I only acquired 2 male cats when they were already adults. One I had for 14 years, and the other for 3. Both were neutered, but they both still sprayed.

Some cats (male of course) Never spray inside. But get him fixed if you are worried about it. I have 2 males and one is not fixed (over a year) he NEVER sprays. Good Luck!

Around 6 months. He has been spraying before now for about 2 months. But you can stop him from spraying by getting him neutered.

If he's not fixed and been outdoors it is only a matter of time before he starts marking (spraying ) his territory and trust me you do not want this. Have him neutered and he probably won't start and you will also be helping to control the pet population. HAVE HIM NEUTERED!!!

Yes he will if he's not already doing it. If you plan to let him indoors you will need to get him neutered & that may not solve the problem. He still may do it. Good luck
