This cat was given to me by him as a b-day present several years ago. When we separated, he insisted on keeping this cat, and I got the other 2, which I dearly love. By the way, he left this cat to fend for himself during hurricane Katrina. Now he's making changes in his life and he doesn't have time for the cat. I have 3 of my own, plus an outside one that I have spayed. He said it would not be permanent but the cat is displaying aggressive behaviour because he is never around. What do you think?

This is true Daniel , but what happens if the cat is happy here and a year later he wants him back. My other cats are happy, and play with each other. When I was with my ex, they didn't do that. Must have been a negative vibe..

I would suggest to your ex to find a new home for the cat so it can have a happy life. It isn't fair for him to neglect the cat and I am sure there are many other loving families it could live with. Good luck

I think you have two choices, Either tell your ex to find someone to help him take care of his cat like a pet sitter service that can come out everyday or other day to feed, change litter, make sure there is water and help out that way at your exs house for him or that you take the cat permanently. Cats are very Territorial and like things a certain way all the time. The reason he maybe aggressive is he wants his territory and the other cats already own that territory he is now in. It would take a while of fights before all the cats involved settle down. They say cats take about 2 weeks to adjust to a new house and 2 months or so to get used to new cats when they are older like yours seem to be. It stresses them out to be moved from place to place and owner to owner and stress on a cat makes them sick sometimes vomiting and losing hair and agressive behavior it is best for the cat to stay where it is if he wants to keep it or you take it so it doesn't have to keep moving all the time. I hope this helps you out!

I'm not an expert at this kind of stuff, but I think you should. Just because it's your ex-husband's fault the cat is mad doesn't mean you should leave the cat in it's current state. If you deny he might have to put the cat up for adoption.

It was a b-day present to you, I think you should take the cat and NEVER give it back.
