I'm not sure what the problem you are having with this is. Is it because he was convicted and will not be punished in the Philippines? Or because he is being held while his appeal is still being processed? If the Philippine government wanted to prosecute and condemn him themselves they wouldn't have allowed the transfer.

Rape is terrible wherever it happens. But there's a certain hypocrisy in many countries when *their* women are raped by "other" or foreign men. What is the rate of rape reporting and conviction in the Phillipines? How many Filipina women are "exported" to other countries as prostitutes and hostesses? It's important for a country and a people to examine their own record on respect for women before they go picketing and raising hell over one American retard who raped one of their women.

If he is guilty then the Marine will not have an easy time of it.
Many a good American died so the filapinos could have such a protest but sometimes the Philippines makes me wonder if we shouldn't have let the Japanese keep the place.

They want the Americans anyway! Anyone ever see the ads where the Philippine women are practically begging for American men to bring them home with them? LIke free puppies! I've seen that all over everywhere.

Boys will be boys, however, my experience in the Phillipines is that you don't need to rape anyone, just come up with a few bucks.
