Why Are we even in Iraq still..... This war is stupid Iraqis should take care of there own ******* Problems. President Bush really apparently doesn't give a crap about the military personal at all... Lets just send more troops, who cares, as long as it's not me president bush or my rich family. I think it would be so funny if there was a draft and kids jenna and barbara Bush had to go to war..... Let's see what he would think then, I'm pretty sure his opinions and stragegys on this war would change. I mean come on how many deaths now over 3,000. Hes just wasting away u.s tax money. I mean most of the military have the SGLI (insurance) what is it now 400k 500k something like that. All that money.... All those deaths its not worth it. Not to say i'm a democrat or republican, but i cannot wait till a democrat gets back in office. I personally think the former president bush is running the show on this war. Basically he started it anyways in operation desert shield in the early 90's. I guess he wants his son to finish it. Anyways that's just my opinion. Hope it wasn't too harsh, but sending more troops is pointless. All it will result in is more bloodshed and more money wasted.. Oh and to quote Jbo the answer before mine, Tapping into the oil in iraq thats why where there. That's their oil, Do you see iraqis tapping into our oil here, that's a big FAT NO. Makes ya wonder hmmm doesn't Bush has stocks in oil. I think thats a big FAT YES. Gl to ya

Iraq must be in a position where it has an effective government, otherwise Iraq will become what Afghanistan used to be, only worse. The die was cast for the present situation when Rumsfled committed to the fight without putting in enough troops to secure the ground taken. The President's plan is probably our last best attempt to leave Iraq with at least a reasonable chance of making it as a nation.

The US wants to let these humble people to experience a free country and bring stability to a potentially productive sound economic society. If it were just Iraqis to leave Iraq to it would be easy, but there are other influences involved who stand to undermine the work of the coalition forces and bring stability, ie Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and others. If we can establish our goals without violence we would definitely choose that avenue. But unfortunately these other bad influences involved choose to use violence then we must also.

i can't stand to hear him talk, but i read the transcript from the speech on fox news..maybe you should read it. it pretty much spells it out. they want to stabalize the region to prevent another Saddam type person and followers from overtaking the region again..thus making us have to return over and over to calm things down. if we squash the problem now, less maintence later..you gotta see down the line not just right now..and no i'm not a bush lover..i'm trying to just see the big picture here..but read the speech it may help you understand

The way I see it:
The increase in troops = faster return back home.
If we have well-trained troops sitting here in the U.S. it makes more sense to send them to Iraq to help support my husband and all of his fellow soldiers, so that way they can come back home to their family and friends.

You smell that? Do you smell that? ...Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for twelve hours. When it was all over I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...
