When your parents and grand parents were growing up history looked on that time as the industrial age. We have moved into a time that history is calling the information age.

Information is communicated through written or spoken language.

If you want to keep up with the times, yes, you need to concern yourself with it. In the past, people could do industrial jobs that didn’t require more than labor skills. Communication is a part of so many things we do.

Why are you here if not to communicate and be communicated to? Look at how many don’t know how to spell or use proper diction in their communication.

If you want to progress and keep up with the world around you, don’t just learn to communicate. Master the ability of communication.

By the way, some public speakers get between 2 thousand to 15 thousand for a public speech. These are the nobodies. Famous people get even more. You can too if you learn how now.

The fact that you’re asking the question tells me you will make the right decision.

Best wishes on your career choices and your life.

Most people dont do public speaking but you never know when for some unforeseen reason youre up in front of a bunch of people you never met before.

The trick is not to care what they may think of you. Just care enough about the message. It really boils down to accepting yourself when the speech goes really poorly.

There is a group called Toastmaster where folks like you can try public speaking. They are in just about every community in the country. Look in the phone book.

Public speaking is made important because lots of people used to be really afraid of it.

But most of the time public speaking is optional so you can easily get by without it.

If you want to flip burgers for the rest of our life you do not need it. If you have higher aspirations you do. Join a toastmaster club to get a start in public speaking

You need it.

The idea is that many people, in their professions, have to get up and give a report in front of a room full of people. You need to learn how to do this without being nervous.

This can be a little scary at first, but it gets easier the more times you do it

well if you really want to get out into the "real world" with your career or whatnot..you have to know how to speak in front of people. I mean, your manager might require you to give a little speech during a meeting or whatever, you have to be ready in knowing what to say and how to react. if you can speak in front of people comfortably, then you can do just about anything!

At some point in your life, you might need to make a presentation in front of someone. It's better to know what you are doing.
