Panic is not something that someone who does not suffer from it can understand. I have suffered from panic attacks since I was 5 years old and I am 32 now. Breathing exercises really work for the little ones. I tried many different medications and none really work. It is mind over matter. It will take a lot of practicing but you can learn to control them. Buy books and read about it. I just bought "Anxiety & Panic Attacks their cause and cure" by Robert Handly.
Good Luck

Do you mean you feel uncomfortable and self conscious when watching TV with you're family when it's the show you chose? If that's what you're saying, I used to silently freak out when my mom would watch TV with me because I was afraid if they mentioned 'sex' or anything weird during the show that she would think of me and wonder if I was having sex or if I liked to watch shows where people swore all the time. I guess I was afraid of her judging me by my reaction to a television show. I was sometimes afraid to laugh at something funny because I felt uncomfortable with my mom seeing me laugh at certain things. I also used to pretend I fell asleep during mild 'love making' scenes, etc.. It was a big problem when I was a kid but obviously not since I moved out! I have huge anxiety issues as an adult but they started when I was younger. Being self conscious while watching TV was one form of my childhood anxiety.

try talking yourself out of it. get a watch with a second hand on it and count the seconds with regulated breathing. there are some supplements that help with anxiety too. b12 and this rescue rememdy stuff work good. good luck with it. ive been suffering from it for a few years, but i have controlled it. its difficult but doable.

I know what you mean. It's hard to get over. You could talk to someone who understands, that sometimes makes you feel a little relieved. If it effects your everyday life you may need to talk to a doctor and see what your options are.
