Just curious, I just turned 21 and thought it would be cool to buy one. I am intrested in either a .40, .45, or a 9mm. Thanks for any help.

Pawn shop. Just be very careful of the fit and function of the weapon, buying a used gun is like buying a used parachute, on the one hand it may be perfect and hardly have been used, on the other hand it may have been trashed and kill you on the first use. Read Xavier Thoughts blog, he buys a lot of used guns and has good advice on checking them over.

Well really cheap handguns I'd have to go with the others on this and your local thug. But I wouldn't trust him or the quality of the firearm. Cheap is not the way to go here, best price is a better way to go. For starters shoot a vareity of handguns in the calibres you mentioned then choose a model that you like. After you have the model chosen shop around at gun shops, gun trade shows and other places that sell firearms to find the best priced model that you want.

Hope that helps

I too will have to agree with the majority on this one, cheap is not a factor I consider when buying a firearm. Consider this scenario, you find a "cheap" handgun, load it with +P ammunition, and loose your hand because your cheap firearm was not meant to handle the load of high pressure ammunition. I will however tell you that I helped a coworker find a handgun in the caliber you want and for the money we found that the Springfield XD series was well worth the cost.

I hope this helps and do be safe with firearms because the effects of misuse are permanent!

I wouldn't recommend you get a gun because it's cool. If you want a cheap gun, get a Hi Point. You can get a 40 or 45 semi auto for a couple hundred dollars. But , I wouldn't bet my life on one of those. If you really want a gun, take some good training, practice alot and buy a good gun.

Cheap handguns are almost always a very bad idea. A handgun isn't a price tag and a toy, it's a precision tool requiring the utmost responsibility. Take classes, take consideration, and be an honorable owner, not a statistic.

If all you want is a cool cheap gun just buy an Airsoft replica of a gun you saw in a movie. This way you can satisfy your craving without endangering yourself and the rest of us.

Also you can shoot your friends with it.

Hi-point, makes a .45 and a 9mm. They retail for $119.95, they are an awesome gun for the money, the only negative I have found with them is they do not like cheap ammo.
I bought mine (.45 cal) at Big R, I have seen them at Scheels, and Gart Sports.
You can beat these guns for the money.
Now that mine is broke in, it seems to shoot PMC ammo just fine.

Cheap handguns are usually crap. Guns are not toys. If you really have use for one, take a gun safety course and learn the safe proper use of firearms. Buying a gun because it is "cool" is not a legitimate reason to own a firearm.

Quality guns are a good investment. If funds are really limited Hi-Point makes low cost handguns. Any gun shop can set you up.

If you wont to hold you boat in place.
It would be far more cost effective to buy an anchor.
It would take a dozen cheap guns to do the trick.
Quality guns are only cheap when stolen.
