How did the location where you pick up tickets for an event get the name "Will Call"?

I picked up tickets the other day at a booth called "Will Call". I asked around at the time to see if anyone knew why it is called this, but no one knew the answer. Please help satisfy my inquisitive mind.

Will Call is a old theater term meaning the patron will "call on" (come by) the box office to pick up their tickets
