It wont directly cause tooth decay, but both aspartame and carbonation leach calcium from your teeth making you more prone to decay.

Not directly. If you don't take care of your teeth you will get cavities anyway.
Consuming a sugar free or calorie free substitute will only slow the growth of plaque on your teeth. Just brush and floss and you will be ok.

I believe aspartame is neutral in decay. Doesn't promote it but doesn't prevent it either. It also depends on how acidic your drink is also. Acidic beverages can increase the likelihood of tooth decay by damaging the enamel on the tooth's surface.

Cavities, I can deal with......but the jury is still out on all these new sugar substitutes......personally, I'll take sugar over man- made chemicals...
