This is the best track to take if you want to be a pilot or navigator/ewo in the Air Force: #1: In high school, concentrate in math and science. Get good grades. Go to college, concentrate on math and science (not required, but will help you get through flight school). Get good grades. Assuming that you are in good health, have good eyesight/not color blind, can pass a security background check, and are an overall decent peson (you will be interviewed personally), then apply for Officer Training School and request consideration for a pilot or navigator (rated) slot. This will all be done through your recruiter. Then wait until your deciding board meets and decides if you are accepted.

#2: Join ROTC in the college that you attend, get good grades, concentrate on math and science. When you graduate, assuming that you are physically fit, have completed the ROTC program and can pass the background check, you will be commissioned as a 2Lt. You will have a board that will decide if you get a flying slot.

Overall, you can choose if you WANT to be a rated officer (pilot, nav/ewo), but you must prove yourself as worthy to a board of officers. They will decide if you will make the cut. It's highly competitive, so prepare and be dedicated/persistent! I chose path #1, and have been flying as a rated officer in the AF for 6 years now. The real work begins your first day of flight school....
