My dog is black with lighter hues of brown spotted throughout her body. She has a long tail that stands up and a tongue that is spotted black. She is 18 inches from foot to shoulder and weighs approximately 65 lbs. What breed is my dog?

Here are some pictures.

Hes a cute one! The face and coat say Chow as does the up tail and those telltale spots on the tongue.
His color is Australian Shepard's,those irregular colors would sure match. Unless you paid a king's ransom for a rare breed and the laugh is on us, that's your best guess. A friend that works at a groomers says the weight and height are very good for a Chow, and to make sure to obedience train him as they are wonderfully protective and a bit of the one man dog type. Very loyal and athletic. Enjoy your nice fella!

Looks like an aussie or blue heeler mix, maybe catahoola cow dog. Could be some chow in there. Black spots on tongue don't really mean much, all chows have black tongues but not all dogs with black tongues are chows.

Wow! This one is rough Looks like a bit of Boarder Collie but also has a Look of another of which I can not remember at this time, wish I could help more on this have you asked your Vet. what they think ? try to compare feet, snout, eyes, & body line front and body line back section with other breeds close in apperance. Yes-(Australian Shepard) is the breed I'm thinking of.

By the way she is very nice looking and looks healthy & Happy.
Good Luck on your quest. My first choice is she is a Boarder Collie.

I answered this last night and gave you websites to go to for pics. Your dog is an Eurasier or an Eurasier mix.

Eurasiers are not "chow muts". They are a German breed getting back to the orginal spitz. They have been a distinct breed for over 40 years an are breed for personality and behaviour not looks, so they can all look different. It came down from Chow x Keeshound then crossed Samoyed.

She's a beautiful mongrel dog!

Did you know that your dog doesn't necessarily have to be made up of breeds? She can just be her own unique dog without a mix of breeds thrown in. Check out the link in my source list -- it gives a nice explanation of this.
