Christianity is based on faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for the salvation of mankind. Jesus was the promised messiah and king prophesied about throughout the Old Testament and the New Testament is the explaination and revelation of His coming and that He will come again.

We put our faith in Jesus Christ that He died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead to cover our sins forever and that we might also overcome sin and death. God will forgive us for our sins and bring us into new life in Christ. We leave our old life of sin behind and walk on in newness of life in Christ.

John 14.6 "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes to the Father except by me."

Romans 10.9-11 "9 If you use your mouth to say, "Jesus is Lord," and if you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you will be saved. 10 We believe with our hearts, and so we are made right with God. And we use our mouths to say that we believe, and so we are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be disappointed."

Hope that helps.

Jesus Loves You

My boyfriend claims he's atheist and much like you he has recently started to ask questions.
My family has always been Catholic, born and raised, my mother at one point felt like she needed to learn about other denominations, so for a little while our family was SDA(Seventh Day Adventist), I even attended a private school for SDA. Well, that didn't go so well...unfortunately I was kicked out of the school for speaking against what they were teaching. In Bible class the teacher was convinced that all of the past and today's world problems are the fault of the Catholics. This rang some bells and I said hey now, back up one second here, how is it that all the world's problems can be the fault of one denomination? (To clarify: Religion is the overhead, so Christianity is a religion, it can then be divided into varrying beliefs and those groups are refered to as a denomination - each denomination has a slightly different view on some of the Bible's teachings but share the common belief in God) So after a lengthy discussion with their pastor and the teacher where they attempted to take back what they said I just couldn't see myself in a belief system that points fingers and tries to lay the blame on other people rather than taking some degree of responsibility. (Sorry - I know this is going to be a lengthy response but bear with me). So for a while there I was lost, I went through some really tough times (things I would not wish on anyone) I didn't know what system to trust so I started doing research - that would be a really good place for you to start (I'll also include a website that has a series of questions about how you feel about certain things and it will tell you what your best suited for along with other suggestions). I strayed from the belief in the Christian God for personal reasons (and it's not to say it was wrong, it just wasn't what I felt was for me). The first belief system I researched was Wicca because I knew someone who claimed to be Wiccan. I will say this about Wicca - very respectful of nature and earth, self-empowering. After a year and a half of researching Wicca specifically, I felt I had a pretty good understanding of what it stood for. But I didn't stop there... I then researched Budhism and that is what rang most true to me. Each and every person will have a unique reason for believing certain things, it's a personal choice, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. All in all my life changed after I did the research (the key is to be patient with your findings) because I felt like I had more control over the things that were happening around me and a better understanding of my personal purpose.

Here's the site I suggested earlier: www.beliefnet.com
For the 'test': http://www.beliefnet.com/story/76/story_7665_1.html
Don't be shy while exploring this site, there's a lot of information that will help get you started with your expolarations.

Hi, I am Christian...I was raised somewhat Catholic, I was introduced to native beliefs, I am part native...I studdied wiccan and for a while I just left it all alone...For the past fifteen years I went out all the time, I was a social addict, I was always high on something and functioned like that everyday. I didn't care about tommorrow it was all about the moment...What I didn't see was how I was slowly falling into a dark pit...Until one day I looked around by tiny whole of an apatment, looked at the strange guy that was sleeping in my bed and wondered if there was more to life then this...I had walked away from the church and relgion because it was a joke..I still believe that...Anyway...shortly after that I met a evangilical Christian who was celbrating his birthday at church....it sparked my curiosity so I went....Every person there was smiling and happy...They were dancing singing and just strangly content with who they were...So I went again but it wasn't until two years later while sitting in my home...I was searching for something just like you are now, so I said God if you are real let me feel you...let me know. It was then that I felt a comfort almost like I was being hugged...I started to cry in my house and I went to my knees..I felt a presence in there that I had never experienced before....I gave my heart to the Lord at that moment....since then....my life has turned around...I still don't like religion...I find it fake and self righteous and full of deciet..however I love God and nobody can tell me that He doesn't exist, he saved my life...he held me at my weakest and He's guiding my now.....I strongly urge you to privatley read the Bible, go to a few different churches...avoid anything cult like..but do what I did and ask Him to reveal his presence to your heart...Not everything in life is logical...that's where confusion sets in....somethings are just what they are....when you open you heart to it that's when the miracles happen....Be blessed

I'm amazed that there are actual seekers out there and appreciate your interest. (pls read this all). First off, Im Muslim. It's not as bad as you think. Seriously think here, if all 1.5 billion of us were taught to kill then you'd be dead by now. Islam comes from the word peace and people couldn't be more far from the truth than they are. To be Muslim, the MOST important thing is to believe in God. Here are the top 3 logical reasons I believe in God.

1. Science comes down to faith in an eternal universe. Religion comes down to faith in an eternal creator--the "uncreated creator." Science can trace the universe back until 1^43rd of a second after the Big Bang. What they can't explain is the triggering event of the Big Bang. Laws of science tell us that all existing cells come from previous cells. That would mean cell life has been around forever, as we could infinitely trace life back to an eternal amount of pre-existing cells...it makes no sense.

2. Too many miracles have occured to be the result of natural occurence. One, (and my favorite) example is polypeptide chains in the RNA of proteins. More than 500 amino acids are programmed to perfectly match up with their anti-codons in the exact sequenceThe likelihood of this ocurring without divine interfention is less than 10^950!! Anything after 10^50 is considered virtually impossible..coincidence...or higher intelligence? Humans are taught that for every organization there is an organizer. For every painting there is a painting; therefor for every creation there must at some point be a creator. Not the Jesus god or the made-up deities; but rather a supreme creator; an unexplainable thing that is paradoxically no-thing that we can define.

3. Perhaps the quickest and most logical of my arguments. To say the universe spurred as the result of sequential coincidences is the same as spilling ink on a paper and it forming a perfect paragraph; although we (theists) have no evidence to indicate that the ink will just splat onto the paper; the likelihood of it happening is basically impossible.

To believe in God is to acknowledge a higher explanation beyond our comprehension. Peace and God bless on your journey to wisdom. Islam is open to ALL; we are one undiscriminating brotherhood.

Your life is about logic and reason o. k. who's logic and who's reason.
All I can Think about is a joke my biology teacher told me when I was in High School.
There was this scientist in a laboratory studying a small insect which had six legs. He put the little insect on his hand and ask it to jump, and the little insect jumped. Then he took all six legs off and ask the little insect to jump and the little insect did not jump. After that, the scientist yell at the poor insect to jump and the little insect did not jump and then he yell a lot harder and the insect did not jump. The scientist took is notebook and wrote.
CONCLUSION: When you take off all the legs of an insect. They became deft.
There is no logic in human behavior.
What spirituality teaches you is that you are a lot more than a body. I think you know that.
I don't think that there is one perfect religion for everyone.
My suggestion is don't look for a religion look for God.
And stay in the one that helps you find Him
By the way I am Catholic

I came from a once a week for an hour church going family. I found Jesus when I was 22 & misplaced him when I was23 I drank myself to insanity, & was powerless over the grip booze had on me.In a final act of desperation,I called out to a power greater than myself, & the compulsion to drink has been lifted. I dont know what my Gods name is . So far my Gods Church has been the wild places. The woods, the Pacific Ocean. My understanding is very limited. I don't know what happens after I die, yet.
I dont buy into only 1 true God / way to believe.I believe We are all entitled to a God of our own understanding.
But like I said I'm new to this Spiritual Path, & I can always change my mind.
Good fortune on your journey.

I was raised a Catholic.I had always believed there was a God,a Creator but found the Catholic religion very empty. The rituals and hypocrisy left me longing for answers.
I studied the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses and straight away I saw the difference between this religion and other religions.Jehovah's Witnesses taught from the Bible and used the Bible to explain everything. They had a understanding of the Bible that I never experienced before.Everything came into place.
I finally learned about who God was. What He expected of those who worshipped Him.What the BIble was all about. What happens to us when we die. What plans Jehovah has for the earth.Oh yes,God had a name!I couldnt believe it.No longer was the Bible difficult to understand. The Churches of Christendom confuse people with "Lord" and "God",and the concept of a "Trinity".Now I was understanding things.
This might seem hard to beleive.I certainly wouldn't believe it but it happened to me.Through fervent prayer,Jehovah helped me give up smoking.Something I had done for twenty odd years.Study of the Bible and learning about our wonderful Heavenly Father helped me draw closer to Him and helped me immensely to get my life in order.I finally had contentment in my life,a purpose.Things now make sense to me.I have been a baptised Witness of Jehovah God for eight years. It is the best thing that has ever happened to me.
Jehovah's Witnesses offer free home Bible studies. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.Only Jehovah's Witnesses have a love for each other that spans worldwide. There is no racial barriers. It is the most wonderful, amazing organisation. And Jesus did say at John 13:35 that his disciples would be known by the love they have among themselves.
If you are searching, please contact your local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. It really will be the best move you ever made.

If I have to wear a tag for a religion, it would be Universalism.

Simply put. God is in control of all things, nothing is never beyond His control. He is the Creator, the Controller, the Judge and jury. The Master Plan did NOT get screwed up in the garden. It was and still is working perfectly. Free will does not exist and God will have ALL men/women to know the truth and the truth will make us ALL free. Some knew before us, some are knowing now and some will come later, but ALL will be saved.

Let the stoning began,
peace

I follow Christ because of the radical nature of his message. He was the original master of non-violent resistance. I had a extremely bad temper before I followed Jesus, but since I found him and he forgave my sins, I began to forgive others. There's so much peace in doing that. Also I no longer fear death for any reason A. because I know that a restful place is prepared for me, and B. because I know that I will not die so much as a second before God wills it. And I trust his judgement. God is like a father to me. Plus, there's the sense of brotherhood I feel with every other Christian on earth. Talk about a sense of belonging. I think everyone could use that, really.

Atheism isn't the fact. Atheists are better actual swayed with information from medical theories, that are the nearest component to the fact we've, than some religious human beings, ensuing in the concept that atheists have fact and everybody else is S.O.L. however it is not real entirely because some believers even believe in medical information and theories, so as that they actually have the same fact I do, with an further layer on top in that they believe in god, to boot... . i'm able to believe that i understand the fact about evolution without denying some different person's claims about creation. i think of their claims carry a lot less weight than mine, are incapable of being shown or disproven and for this reason strike me as less than achieveable, and are a lot less convincing on the total. yet they could nonetheless believe it. contained ultimately, although, fact is fact and one version of activities has to provide way. i imagine it is extraordinarily sparkling that the medical version has better information to help it and could probable win out contained ultimately, and at that element, it will be considered stupid to believe otherwise. human beings can nonetheless believe what they favor, yet i imagine they're going to right now comprehend that they are scuffling with a dropping conflict.
