I've spoken to some people who believe in God, but refuse to obey his word because they say God is a "control freak". If it were not for God, we wouldn't have our lives, brains to think, or free will to judge him or anyone else. God has every right to expect total obedience and respect. If one views that as having control, so be it. He has earned that right, and should expect it.
People are more accepting of a human such as president, mayor, ect being in "control" but have issues with the creator of earth, the universe, and all that exists having control??? I've even seen people willing to submit to a girlfriend, boyfriend, or celebrity, due to lust or imperfect love, yet these same people call God a "control freak" for expecting the same?? Makes no sense to me.
Although I don't agree with Atheists, at least I can understand their position since they don't believe in God. But for people not to obey a God, they believe exists, because he expects to be in control, is strange.

Although God expects that we obey and fully surrender to him, it is not in a cruel or sadistic manner. He wants us to do this, because it will keep us safe and help us to understand how loving he truly is. It is for our benefit. Also, we were created for his purpose, to please him. People who think God is cruel and evil to his children who are obedient and humble, don't fully know God.

I totally agree with you completely. People rather believe in man because they can't see God. See man is running this country with Satan's hand on their shoulders. Frankly Satan himself and his helpers are running this cruel world. The only thing that we can do is to pray for all those who deceive God. When the time comes people will see for themselves that God does exist.

There are lots of people who give intellectual assent to a God, but don't believe it in their hearts. They agree to the term "God" because of the fear based tactics of damnation to hell, but don't believe otherwise. They say a prayer of salvation, think they're good, and then go about their lives believing themselves "saved".
After all, salvation isn't based on works, and Christ washes away all sin, so what need do they have of living righteously?

obey him? god has never told me to obey anything. if you're talking about the bible, who's to say your interpretation of god is correct, while others are false?
