I hate to say it, but you're looking for two things that rarely happen. It's kinda like surviving a headshot - it happens, but it's always some kind of miracle when it does.

Look at it this way. Tthe dumpee is going to be upset because she's being rejected, in a bottom-line kind of sense. You're going to look like a bad guy because people like to take sides and place blame. You rocked the boat, so everyone's going to immediately stare at you with those evil eyes.

There is a way to kinda brainwash your way around it, though. Hurting her feelings/dumping her now is the merciful thing to do. Kind of like shooting the dying dear that you just ran over with your truck. Not pleasant, but it's the way to stop the suffering. As for the bad guy thing ... just spin it. Why are you the bad guy? What's wrong with these people that think they can judge you for doing the right thing? What do they know? Every last one of them would have done the same thing, they're just too drunk on watching your episode of Springer. You rock, they suck, good night.

If you are concerned about "not looking like the bad guy," then, you probably are the bad guy.

Be honest. Their ego may be hurt but that can be better than being confused and embarrassing themselves somehow later.

However, be sure that you understand your own feelings. If you are young you probably get bored quickly being with the same person. It's ok to say that other things are more important in your life now and your relationship isn't that exciting.

Don't complicate it by trying to mask it. Just be quick and honest. The feelings might be mutual. BUT, waiting, or trying the whole "It's not you, it's me" thing can just drag it on if not handled right. Just say "We're not right for each other... And I am sleeping with your dad" Nooo, leave out the dad part, that was a joke. Just be forthcoming and do it soon.

there is not an wasy way, someone always gets hurt. Hinesty is the best policy, do not pretend that everything is ok and try to be nice, just be honest about how you feel.

there really isn't, i just broke up my engagement because i felt i just wasn't ready for marriage and now i'm getting crap from all my friends and family just because i was being honest, so there really isn't a way to dump someone and not be the bad guy.
