Whenever I look at europe i see a place who has far less hangups than americans. I've seen American questions on here about not letting young girls wear thong underwhere as if some cloths under your clothes is somehow a bad thing. Americans are against women going topless in public where men can go topless and they can't explain why it's wrong and say that it just is. They have hangups about naked people, but we are all just people and we know what each other has under our cloths. I've been to nude beaches and it's no big deal. Europeans don't have these hangups. I've heard from some Americans that sex between two teenage girls is bad. A practice that will not get a girl pregnant but people can't give a good reason as to why it's bad, other than to say it just is. People say pot should remain against the law but it's proven booze is far more dangerous and adictive than marijuana but they don't want booze made illegal.
Why are Americans such backwards prudes?

For those that claim it because the US has morals please tell me how the human body is imoral.
If your a chrisian, don't you believe that god created the human body? How could your gods creation be imoral?

I think that it is the religious climate here. I could not believe the big deal made over Janet Jackson's breast for 2 seconds. It is amazing isn't it. In Europe your sexuality is much more open but you don't murder each other. Here, they worry more about a breast than a handgun!

It is because of the morals the country was founded on. Many people came to the US in order to be religiously and morally conservative without being persecuted. The US is only a couple hundred years away from it's "prude" start. Perhaps we will evolve to be as open as Europe someday.
(I agree, Europe is way cooler.)

Because this country was first settled by the radical religious fanatics of the time (Quakers, Puritans, Shakers, Methodists, French Huguenots and Baptists were once considered cultists!) of Europe to avoid persecution. We stayed fanatical, and Europe grew up. It's stupid, but, hey, what can we do?

I am not American. but I see nothing wrong with such prudes with Americans. I am just supprised .....
Why you want to go topless in public....
Why you think it's not a big deal of nude beach...
Why you think good between the teenage girls sex is.........
I wonder, later you will think like an animal. It is not like what you say nothing wrong. nothing wrong with what? with your thinking? it has basic moralities for human. those are nothing to do with doing right or wrong. it standardise the level of living creatures. You can not pretend as if nothing wrong if you know the truth. the truth is when you were a baby, you are nothing wrong to stay nude in public because every body know that you have no idea with it. but when you become a woman, you can't say that you have no idea.

I agree with you, and I am an American. This country is deeply rooted in Puritanical notions. It is as though the human body is icky here.

we are taught that nudity and sexuality are bad, for some reason seeing a nude body is considered pornography. there is a difference, it's sad really.
