If we could get it to end then it would be great, but after visiting Vietnam this year and seeing the result of that, I am really afraid we are heading in that direction. We can not rule the world and force everyone to agree with us. If we want to fix the problems in Iraq, then we need to start making friends with our allies and enemies and earning some respect from our behavior and not just our military.

That's just it. There is no clear idea of who America's fighting and who they're allied with anymore. People talk about victory and winning. "We got to win this." Win what? You've got different groups of warring factions and tribes. Which one are you going to support? Which one represents Iraq?
The reality is that the chaos and political break-down is too great for anything to be done anymore at this point. It's over.

It's not going to end, with or without the USA. They've been fighting in the middle east for 100's of years, I see no reason why it will end.

Yes. And I think it is make it or break it for the Iraqis. They would be getting the best chance we could give them. If their president keeps his promises then I think there will be change. If not, well it was the best we could do. And God help us.
