I've always known this as Rippling Skin Syndrome, but it's true name is Feline Hyperesthesia Syndrome (FHS)

I've had 5 cats and I've only seen one with the syndrome. As you have found from your vet, they understand what it is, but no one yet knows a "cure". Your cat will be just fine in spite of it.

You are irritating the cat. This is one of the only ways cats express stress, irritation or unhappiness.

If it is happening only when the cat is stretching, it is part of the stretch. Otherwise, its you or something/somebody around the cat.

Your cat is not happy.
