No school, no job. No job, no money. No money, no travel. No fun. Plus, no school, no language skills for when you travel -even if it's just outside your own neighborhood!

I do believe that there is a lot of knowledge and experience to be gained by traveling that can't be learned in school, but the same goes for school as well. Traveling to different countries is not going to teach you the basic skills to be able to communicate and a fundamental knowledge iis still needed in order assimilate the information your learning in other countries.

School is important. I mean you would learn things by traveling and such but I don't think people would have the urge to travel if they hadn't had school to maybe spark an interest. Seriously, do you know too many people who didn't think school was important who travel and want to learn from other cultures w/ open minds? I don't. This is, of coarse, just my opinion.

Formal and informal learning complement each other. A human develops by both experience and structured study. School (if it is worth its salt) gives you study and learning skills that you can apply in gaining more intellectually from experiences.
You see only what you look for, so experience without structured learning makes you street-wise, but does not help sharpening your analytical skills.
All theory is grey, so pure school learning without experience in the world makes you a dull lodger in an ivory tower.

Going to school can be a drag, but it's just not to learn "stuff". It's also a course in self-dicipline. If you can make yourself go to school, then you can be ready for the world. One can learn a lot from life itself, not just traveling the world, but without the self-dicipline, you won't get very far at all.
