Here we have one of the major internal problems of the Christian faith. It's astounding that people actually attempt to justify this view.

Well, let's look at what the bible says, since as a Christian, that is where we get our information about God, about Jesus, about salvation. The bible says there are none good, than no one is without sin. So that means, yes, it's obvious if someone murders or rapes, that is a crime. But what is not so obvious are the sins that every single person commits throughout their lives, everyone does. Sin cannot enter the presence of God. So, the rapist cannot, and neither can the person down the street who may not have committed a crime worthy of prison, but in God's eyes, has sinned and cannot enter His presence either.
That is where the atoning death of Jesus on the cross redeems us; from every sin. Those sins that all can see, those that perhaps only we know about. So, the answer is yes. A person could murder someone, repent, confess Christ as savior and when they die, that person has been forgiven and will be in heaven. The person down the street that hasn't murdered anyone, but turns his back on Jesus, never repents, never believes? That person will not enter the kingdom of God. Because remember, no one is without sin.
By the way, a person who is truly born again, who believes in Jesus, this person has a changed heart. They will desire to live a godly life. Not to say they will never fail again....but they will not go out and desire to be wicked and evil anymore.
I hope that helps you with your question.

A great question. I'm a Christian and the best way I can answer it is that it's hard to define what good is. The reality is that even the kindest people do at least some things which at least some people would consider to be not good. Who gets to define what is good or not? Then, who gets to define how much good needs to be done to "make the cut" so to speak?
Christianity makes sense for me because it takes the question off the table. Believing that Christ's death atoned for all of the not good things I did and will ever do and that his resurrection conquered spiritual death both for him and all who believe in him is now all it takes.
I know -- it's black or white in a world that has many shades of gray, but for me it's a lot easier than worrying about whether what I'm doing is good or not and if it is good, is it enough.
Hope this helps....

EVERYBODY sins. No one, by his/her own worth or merit can say they deserve to go to Heaven. If we could get to Heaven by ourselves, by our own good deeds (or lack of bad deeds), then Jesus died for nothing. Why should Jesus die to take the sins of mankind away if mankind can get to Heaven on his own and without the intervention of Jesus to make hin fit for Heaven? I'm sure that God has a plan for those that have never had a chance to believe in Him. There are those that live in oppressed countries where religion/faith in God is forbidden. There are mentally challenged that don't have the ability to understand or believe. There are babies, little kids that can't grasp faith. I'm not going to get into a long discussion on it but God has a plan, a way to be saved for them too. Good works or good deeds isn't5 what gets a person to Heaven. Faith in God, trusting what Jesus did for our forgiveness is what gets a person to Heaven. For those of us that can understand, that have been given the opportunity to believe and trust in God, have a choice to make. Believe (and be saved) Don't believe and be lost. It's our choice..

you cannot say that there are many good people with out "sin".
Sin, is going against God's word. Your definition of sin must be murder, rapist, molestor, etc. But sin can be as small as lust, a little lie, Jesus said these little sins are EQUAL with murder, raping, adultry etc. Because both of them are going against God. We're all sinful people and no one will make it into heaven without the covering of our sins by Jesus' blood.

I've been rather educated in the Christian religion, and simply believing is not key either. In the christian faith, you must confess your sins and ask for forgiveness, and accept christ "into your life."
The bible says that even satan believes that God is there, and that Jesus died for man's sin.
It also says that man cannot go to heaven based by acts alone.
That's what the bible says.

Those are all good qualities of the unsaved people. However, the Bible tells us all have sinned. They must believe in Jesus in order to be saved.
