If you are without belief in the existence of deities and believe it's possible for humans to possess definite knowledge concerning the existence or nonexistence of deities, you're an atheist.

If you believe humans are INcapable of possessing definite knowledge concerning the existence or nonexistence of deities, you're an agnostic.

Well, an Atheist doesn't NEED any proof of NO GOD to make it so. An Agnostic DOES need proof.

An agnostic walks the razors edge looking over both sides for the proof.

An agnostic is basically open minded and can swing either way based on the proof. An atheist clings to their beliefs just like any religious person does. Blindly.

An agnostic says I won't commit, one way or the other, until I am totally satisfied.

Atheist literally means "without faith." In contemporary society the term atheist refers to someone who lacks faith in a god and therefore does not adhere to a religion either.

Agnostic is someone who believes there is no way to know whether there is a god or not, and therefore probably does not adhere to a religion.

So it is certainly possible to be both an atheist and an agnostic. What you wish you classify yourself is up to you. Perhaps in a social context you would call yourself an atheist, since it is true you lack faith in a god. But in a philosophical discussion, maybe the term agnostic would be more apropriate, assuming you believe there is no way to know if there is a god or not.

If you believe that there definitely is no god, then atheist would be the appropriate term for you.

are you unsure if god exists?

do you think that there is no god, but he may exist?

are you currently part of a religion, but are stuggling if it is really right for you?

do you ever wonder if there is a higher power?

do you feel empty thinking that there is no god?

if you answered yes to two or more, you are probably agnostic. being agnostic means that you are pretty sure that there is no god, but you still entertain the thought that it could exist.

if you answered one or zero, you are probably an atheist. being an atheist means that you are pretty sure that there is no god, and you never will believe in a god.

If you believe in the non-existence of any supernatural being you're an atheist. If you don't believe in any supernatural being but you are willing to entertain the possibility that there might be one, you're an agnostic.

atheist is:

OMG, some of these people REALLY have no idea what either means.

Agnosticism is the belief that the existence of God is unknowable. (still leaves room for you to CHOOSE to believe either way, based on what evidence you HAVE been presented with)

Atheism is the lack of belief in ANY higher power, not just the Christian God. It means you lack belief that ANY deities exist.

That said, please pull out a dictionary and look these up for yourself if you do not believe or understand the definitions above.

Agnostic is a subset of atheist. Atheism is just a lack of a belief in a supreme being, agnosticism is a lack of belief while admitting the possibilty that that supreme being could exist.

It depends on how gullible you are. If you are just a little gullible, you may be agnostic. If you are extremely gullible, you may be an atheist.

If you are reasonable, you have a chance at getting to the truth!
