Nah! Enjoy your music. You might learn some things you wouldn't had you cocooned yourself in religion.

I'm a Christian and a disiplined Bible student, and I went to a nin
concert, also Marilyn manson -
Look, back in the day, we had black sabbath, alice cooper, etc..
Its just music, entertainment.
Besides, don't you know that these musicians use that stuff on purpose to sell records?? Don't you realize that anything that is anti-religious, anti-establishment, anti-WHATEVER, will always get the attention of young people?? We all want to shock the crap out of our parents, and most of all, we want to be different from them-
Hey, look, if something like lyrics in a song can sway someone away from their religious beliefs, then I'm sorry, but their religious beliefs weren't so very strong to begin with, ya know???
You listen to whatever most entertains you, and separate that from your beliefs - and give each the attention it requires.

The lyrics are the most important part of any music in my opinion.
What ever you are listening too, that's what you are feeding your soul. As christians we want to fill ourselves with things that will help us keep our focus on Jesus and live as He would have lived.
It's kind of hard to promote the love of Jesus Christ when the music we are plugging into our ears is all hate hate hate.
If the style of music is important to you there are some really good christian metals groups out there.
Tourniquet, Deliverance, Vengeance Rising
are some groups I still have on the shelf here
lots of great guitar, but a good focus on Christ
hope that helps some

I am a Christian, I love gospel music, is the best in my opinion. I do listen to some different kind of music. I like ZZ top, Santana, some metal, punk, but I never let it take over my mind and thinking. Do not like rap. Just because I might pat my foot on the floor to a beat, does not mean that it is penetrating my thoughts.

Israel refused for the longest time to recognize the music of Richard Strauss (20th century) because he was forced to join the nazi party during WWII. It was not until the mid-nineties that it was permitted to be performed in Israel. This is the theme to 2001 Space Oddessy and a brilliant piece.
I'm an atheist, but recognize that Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms and many others were inspired by their spiritual beliefs. Should I reject them also?

Nothing wrong with listening to the music, just don't listen to the lyrics, that is the hook that evil can use to reel you into the lie, to rob you of your free will. If you have trouble tuning out the lyrics, then turn off the songs.

You need to get your head out of music and get a life. You're not going to grow like that.

It depends...
What kind of "Christian" are you?
Do you just live in America?
Do you just try to live right?
Do you just go to church to hang out?
Do you think the Bible is 100% true?
Do you want to honor God?
Are you daily seeking to become more like Jesus?

It's ok as long as you aren't into the lyrics themselves. If you like the beat or their "sound" it's fine, but don't get all into their lyrics.
