first time you dye your hair, go for a medium brown. Black (seeing as your naturally blonde) would probably not suit your complexion.

Try the medium brown, you will be suprised at the change. And then go a bit darker.

One word of advice, if you can go to a salon andget it done, DEF DO. because in the kits that you buy for doing yourself, there are really strong chemicals- such as things they use to paint cars- so try to stay away from them. . 8 washes are good for home kits , especially for a first try.

i would def reccomend not going black...

good luck though if you do. <3 xo

your hair could be any color and if you dye it black, it will turn black. i know this from experience (also dirty blonde..well, currently bald as i just shaved my head). dyeing from light to dark almost always results in the color you expected (i would say always, but there is the possibility of a freak accident). once you dye it that color, however, there's really no going back. you could try a temp dye, but with temps you DO risk the chance of a weirder color, just because the dye isnt as good. and it may not come out when it's supposed to. even so, black is black.

i used to use blue-black but you could never really see the blue, and then i did dark brown to try and slowly go back to blonde. that doesn't work, or it might work but over the span of a few years, so i just cut off the black part and had short hair. just remember that if you go permanent, it's relaly permanent. also remember that your hair color is not the end of your life :) have fun!

p.s. i just remembered that when i dyed my hair black it started falling out. i dont remember what dye i used. so its not a healthy thing to do. but you'll have to cut it all off anyway when you want to be blonde again, so...

Well if you dye it black and your hair is dirty blond it wont turn purple. If it was blonde it might have some shades, and dark brown is good. Try L'Oreal Naturals!! Comes in Black and Brown, works great! Or do it in the salon, never use another brand other than L'Oreal though.. Good luck!

Your hair will definately dye black, but consider this, you cannot ever get black out of your hair so you will always have a root line and will have to keep re-dying it i think you should go to a cool beauty supply store and buy a nice black wig cuz otherwise you are going to have to cut the black out of your hair to get it out or look like a skunk until it grows out!

i've dyed my hair a million times, including red, brownish red, plain old brown, black, and blonde. my hair is naturally dishwater/dirty blonde. really the deciding factor is going to be your skin tone. if you have olive skin, you will be able to pull off the warmer, darker colors. if you have lighter, paler skin you'll be able to pull off the cooler colors. with dirty blonde hair... trust me honey, we can get away with almost anything. also -- reiterating what i said before, colors come in cool and warm -- including shades of black. if you have a darker skin tone, go for the warmer black. if you have light skin, go for the blue-black or something cooler. it will say on the box.

and referring to it turning purple.. as long as you buy a good brand of hair dye, read the instructions and follow them carefully, you will be fine. the only incident i've ever had (and i've dyed my hair several times) was with bleach.. after i had black hair i had to bleach it to get it to a different color -- yes, don't forget that it's very difficult to go back once you have black hair. i didn't bleach it all the way and then tried to dye it normal brown. since my hair was orangish yellow because i didn't bleach it to white, my hair turned brownish red. i ended up liking it, but if you don't follow the instructions, you never know what you'll end up with.

good luck!

I think you should know that black hair dyes and dark brown hair dyes are linked to cancer.

The other problem with black hair dye is that when it starts growing out the roots are very ugly.

if you want positive results, it's best to go to a local salon and have them dye it for you. sure, some are mad expensive; but my recent dye job only cost about $40... so i guess what i'm tryin to say is shop around and you can find a good deal. they can also help you decide on an appropriate color. with the right dye, i'm not sure about it turning purple. when you're considering a drastic color change, you should think about your roots. like, are you going to keep dying it? good luck.

Have a well known hair colorist do it! Black can look really fake , I have brown hair and dyed it black once and it looked horrible. Dark brown maybe the best choice.

i have dirty blonde as well. When you dye it black, make sure that it is completely clean, and you let it soak in for the required time if not a little extra. You might want to consider really light blonde almost white too. you have to go to a solonist but it looks good on me and might for you.

from my own personal experience...starting with a drastic change like that from blonde to jet black can be disasterous...i reccommend that you go dark brown or just plain brown so you get used to the contrast...idk about it turning purple but its the shock factor that really gets you
