Not only do they take jobs but they bring diseases that had been unheard of here in several years like TB and polio. They trash the deserts as they come across and bring drugs and crime that goes with it. We would not excuse someone breaking into our homes and stealing our possesions so they could make a better life for themselves so why are we supposed to put up with them breaking into our country? It is ILLEGAL>

The immigration was started by US Companies in order to pay less for hard work. I think any employer who hires an alien without proper paperwork and does not take taxes and ssi out should be shut down for a year.
American greed in business has no limits. Look at Walmart, they are ruthless in business and for some reason people still go there. If you don't like the immirgation situation, stop shopping Walmart and McDonalds.

I would like to say one small thing. Mexicans are trying to bring the U.S. the best they have to offer. They come here not to have babies, though they’d be fools to miss the opportunity. They come here not to lounge around enjoying welfare benefits, though in every group there are people who make the best of a sucker-play. They come here to make their best efforts, to work—to work hard—to better themselves, to enjoy a better world, to get educated, and to prosper. It’s the American dream writ large. They’re just writing it in Spanish.
If they weren’t a well-integrated part of the machine, they would be replaced. Illegals work, in every sense of the word.
Directly or indirectly, that ketchup on those potatoes with that dinner salad and those chips and salsa and that tuna sandwich and that cloth napkin and that ice-cold lemonade were all provided by the hands of these people.
How much money would you imagine that involves? Does it cover the birth of a new American citizen?

People try to get into the US because they can not surive where they are, no food , no work. As many will die trying to get here simply to provide for themselfs and their family, building a fence will not stop them. They will tunnel or break holes in it. The Berlin wall did not stop people who really wanted to leave east Berlin, it simply keep the honest (scared) people where they are.
If you wish to slow down the illegal problem - hit the source of the problem. Those who hire people without correct paperwork, ie work visa, green card, valid SS card. etc. By shutting down a few of these people who hire illegal - word will get out that there is NO work her either. THen they go to the next possible place of interest.

To all you whiney people do your research and do the math, I'm not saying open the doors and let them all in, but lets be smart about it, they are not hurting our economy, in fact they have helped and plenished our economy, think how much more we would have in Federal taxes, medicare, and social security if we would stop the people who pay them under the table instead of punishing the illegal who are here now, it would also help us keep a better track of them, think of how it would help with more borad control. Think about it people, the ones here would like to stay here, the ones we are trying to stop from coming in the money would really come in handy. The math is easy!

I got this report from AOL News:
Texas Report: Immigrants Help Economy
By LIZ AUSTIN PETERSON
AP
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - A report by the top financial officer of Texas claims illegal immigrants are more a boon to the Lone Star State's economy than a drain, adding another layer to the immigration reform debate.

Texas Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn found that illegal immigrants not only contributed more than $17 billion to the state's economy in the last fiscal year, but that they also pay more than enough in taxes and fees to cover the services they receive.

The report - billed as the first comprehensive analysis by any state financial officer - is being hailed by immigrants' rights groups and panned by foes who question its methodology and contend it was politically motivated.

Strayhorn just lost a bitter battle for governor after running as an independent and has been accused of manipulating state data to make Republican Gov. Rick Perry look bad. Nevertheless, her findings could inject new life in the debate over a national guest worker program, which has stalled despite support from President Bush .

There are an estimated 1.4 million illegal immigrants living or working in Texas, more than any state but California.

Estimates of their impact on the Texas economy have varied widely.

Strayhorn's report said they added $17.7 billion to the gross state product in fiscal year 2005 and produced $1.58 billion in revenues by paying taxes and fees and by playing the lottery. They received $1.16 billion in state services, the report said.

The Federation for American Immigration Reform, which supports tougher border security and an end to illegal immigration , estimated illegal immigration costs Texas $3.7 billion a year. The conservative Lone Star Foundation came up with a similar number in a June report.

In her report, Strayhorn said her estimates differed from the federation's for several reasons. She did not, for example, count the cost of educating the American-born children of undocumented parents.

Calculating the impact of illegal immigrants is "at best an educated guess," she said in the report.

Adrian Rodriguez, a vice president of the League of United Latin American Citizens, said Strayhorn's report backs up his group's long-held assertion that immigrants help the economy.

"We already know ... that an economic benefit exists, it's just been difficult to convey that with the media because of the frenzy from people on the other side of the fence - no pun intended," he said.

But Jack Martin, special projects director for the federation, said Strayhorn's report is "a bit irresponsible" because it doesn't consider the fact that if illegal workers weren't in the jobs they are in, those jobs would be held by legal workers, possibly at higher wages.

Still, Bill Hammond, the president of the Texas Association of Business, said Strayhorn's findings support his group's assertion that immigrants are an essential part of the state's economy. The influential business lobby group wants Congress to pass a guest worker program.

"If somehow these people were to be bused back home tomorrow, our economy would shrink by some 17 billion dollars and that's bad news for every Texan and every business in the state," he said.

Associated Press writer Kelley Shannon contributed to this report.

All you American people think ONLY about the money !.. "billions of dollars".. "tax money".."business".."hurting our economy"..Just listen to yourself ! How could you- AMERICANS , think about money when children are starving and dying in Africa, most people from India can't afford health care..they are dying because of non-availability and affordability of medication. You like to spend your money on all inclusive Mexico vacation, when Mexican kids are barely dressed. If each of you would save a dollar and help poor people from other countries there would be NO IMMIGRATION to your soulless country. By the way, we are all going to die one day..I wonder where YOU gonna put your savings, maybe you take it with you ? :) .. But unfortunately America has nothing........but money.

p.s. If you remember, you were immigrants years ago. Only native-Americans (American-Indians) are the REAL Americans, don't forget !

read some of the post on here and u will get both viewpoints..I think they need to build an electric fence fully armed. People say "they only do jobs Americans won't do".. that's why they all work for McD at min. wage..Most of the jobs they do are jobs that US citizens would make over $20 an hour doing.. They get free welfare and free education for themselves and their kids.. not to mention how many hospitals have shut down due to them running to the ER for every little scratch and not paying the bills.

Stop illegal immigration. People who support illegals in America obviously don't care about it. That's why they don't care that illegals are making U.S. spend billions of dollars on them.
