Yeah. It more than likely is. When you introduce a new bird to your flock, it should be with a 30 day quarantine period. You need to take the new bird to the vet, get blood work and everything done before you put it in the same room with your Grey.

You'll have separate cages, right? Amazons can be particularly funny about sharing cages. I saw an eclectus's legs actually bitten off by an amazon after "successfully" sharing a cage for 5 years.

I am not telling you not to buy the amazon, but I'd definitely have your avian vet look at him before putting him in the same breathing space as your grey...

Good luck!

Please take the little guy home, and get him to a vet!!! An Amazon's eyes will turn orange, when they are excited, listening, or learning. Yellow heads are excellent talkers, EXTREMELY intelligent, and would compliment your family, along with the Grey. The infection can only be spread by contact, to the Grey, so keep them separate, and wash hands good before handling each guy. Is the current owner treating the condition?? Please help him if you can. They are awesome parrots!!! Birdman

You need to get the bird to an avian vet in order to figure out what this infection is all about. How can anyone of us out here in YahooLand possibly guess? What if we're WRONG? Is it worth risking your treasured grey's life over? I think not.
