Yes. You will find that as your Bichon grows to love you, it may shake for other people that it does not know from holding it. It could also be cold, but this is VERY unlikely. It is most likely nervousness......which could also= lots of peeing on the carpet as well!

The dog is not old enough to be bought. You're a stranger that is handling the dog, Why did you pick it up? What idiot let you?

For Pete's Sake! And people think its so much better to buy from breeders! Not his guy, he's a moron!

Its normal for some breeds, not bichon frisee nor maltese. Its normal for a puppy that is being tramatized!

I don't know whats worse, idiots like the breeder you found, or pet stores that hock them and make the rest of look like imbeciles!

It sounds like the puppy has not had proper socialization. My parents are dog breeders and my sister is as well, and I can tell you from experience that this is not a good sign. The only reasons for a puppy to shake are from not being socialized, being an overly nervous dog, or abuse. I would not buy a puppy from a breeder if they are telling you this is normal. Most likely if the puppy has not been properly socialized, the breeder is in it for money and not the love of the breed. This does not produce good puppies. This is where inbreeding, improper immunizing, and puppy mills come in.

From my experience, it is not uncommon. Puppies that age often have not spent much time away from their mothers and new experiences like being held by a stranger could make them a little nervous. Make sure the dog appears to be in good physical health and is alert and that the breeder has a good reputation.

its common. i had the same experience when i went to a breeder. there were a bunch of puppies behind a gate in the kitchen and they were jumping and trying to get to me when i walked up. the minute i picked one up...it started shaking like a leaf. when i checked it out to make sure nothing was wrong w/him, he rolled his eyes at me and looked at the rest of the puppies, so i put it back and he started running around again. LOL....he was scared...all of them were like that, but they played w/one another.

Could be but, there's also something, I forget what it's called, some sort of syndrome, where certain breeds of dogs, usually toy white dogs, shake like that. Call your vet and ask him/her about this and ask if the dog will outgrow it. Don't buy the dog until you find out.

she is young, and fear is natural. however, you should handle some of the other pups too. in fact you must. see if any of the others are like that. if they are, its ok. but if some have no shakes, then the dog you have chosen is too timid and will be less than desirable to own.

go for the more confident pups, or your pity for the one you have will only have you raising a timid dog. there is nurture, but there is also nature.

I always chose the most confident pup as my dog, as I wanted a confident dog from day one.

yes but that is probably not the reason. puppies are small and the height is most likely the reason it seems afraid. it is so small that it knows it could get hurt if it fell. this should stop after it trusts you.
