cold cannot make you sick. Only Germs can make you sick. If you already have the germs and are coming down with something, the cold can make you feel weaker, but cannot make you sick.

No, ice Skating won't make you sick, especially if you wear warm clothes and gloves, then you won't be cold. I've never heard of anyone's mom not letting them skate just because it's cold in the rink, thats kind of a ridiculous reson, sorry I hope you convince her to let you take lessons
Anyway it's not even that cold in an ice rink, it's less cold than going outside in the winter

No, the cold will not make you sick. It is people coughing and hacking on and around you that make you sick, it is the faucet in the bathroom or the hug from a friend that will pass around the viruses.
My son started skating at 3 years old. In 16 years of skating and hockey, me might have missed 2 games due to illness. The cold did not hurt him at all, of course I shivered for the whole time but I guess that is part of being a Mom.

It makes your nose run a little bit from the cold, but it can't really get you any more sick than tennis. Don't get let down, keep it up! Ice skating is gfun, and if you want to take lessons, go for it with all your heart!

Yeah it does if you don't take care of yourself and over exercise. I understand your situation because I'm quite prone to flu and colds so yeah I do catch them when I ice skate for too long and my mom would start scolding me too. Try wearing warm clothes and take vitamin C and zinc to boost your immune system so that you would not be sick so easily. Drinking a cup of hot chocolate about half hour before you start skating helps too.
If you have asthma, you should take medication before skating so that the cold air won't cause an attack or wheezing. Good luck. =)

Im sorry but I have to agree with the luv2figureskate girl. It is ridiculus * dont know if I spelled that right.* Its going to be cold no matter what you do. Have your mom come skating with you for one then have her watch your skating lessons.Oh also tell her that if it isnt cold inside the rink then it will just be a water rink.

As said before, the cold itself won't make you sick. You need to dress propoerly though. Dress warmly, preferably in layers so you can remove some as you heat up. When you are learning it is helpful if your outer layer is waterproof so you don't get all wet when you fall. Don't forget gloves or mittens, and it may be a good idea to bring an extra pair for when those get wet. You should also consider a helmet when you are learning to prevent head injuries (many places require this).

Cold temperatures don't make people sick. It's the germs they originally have that do. (the cold climate just makes coming ill vulnerable)
