There is this guy. He had a massive crush on me and told me straight to my face. I never like-liked him but he was nice. He now doesn't like me because I got braces. It this shallow? He told my friend it was because he was afraid that if he kissed me, his lips would get cut by my braces!

he's a jerk. i got braces about a year ago and i have noticed that not a lot of guys hit on me as much, maybe it's because i look younger. idk. but anyway braces doesn interfer with kissing AT ALL. i was making out with this guy in a club over the summer and it was dark and i dont even know if he knew i had braces. but i can tell you for a fact his lips didnt get cut by my braces at all. and well just a heads up, if this guy doesnt like you because you got braces, then he was probably infatuated with you and never really liked you. his attraction was probably just physical. i hate to say.

It's not shallow it's stupid!! Good thing you never like-liked him...
There is plenty more fish in the sea...and some actually aren't dumb so forget about this one...
Oh and when the braces come off your going to be 100 times prettier so patience...he'll regret being so dumb

I wouldn't say it's shallow of him more like childish thinking. I understand he's afraid to cut his lip but then again you should flirt him up a little if you DO like him and show him that kissing him won't cause a lip cut unless he's a bad kissser.

He sounds like he is afraid of rejection. Don't worry it sounds like your young and you don't need a boy to make you who you are. You have years to find a nice young man then you want have braces. I had braces and the only one that gets cut is you, unless they hit you in the mouth just make sure your laughing then they get cut. Then they want do it again.

I think thats super shallow. If he dint like you because something like your braces. What other things would he not like you for. Move on girl your better of without him. Find someone that likes you for you!

Yes it is shallow, but it is honest. I had braces and it is worth it once they come off, then you will look better than ever.

You didn't say how old you were but most boys are shallow until they hit their twenties. You probably hurt his ego and this is his way of dealing with it. I bet, given the chance, he would kiss you in a heart beat!! Don't dwell on it sweetie!

yah its really shallow!! its good u didnt like this guy, he sounds like a waste of ur time! i mean braces r not bad at all, alotta cool ppl have em..and they dont stay on 4 long maybe 2 yrs max
