My parents are friends with some Chinese students and my parents are having this Chinese student over and his mother. She speaks hardly any English. What do I do? I think it is kinda stupid to have them over when he is the only one that speaks English.

You are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Just be gracious and the rest will work itself out.

I have to warn you though, if you still think it's stupid when they arrive, everyone will notice it through your body language and lack of eye contact.

Just care because you genuinely care about people and you will learn something from them. Maybe you Will exchange a spontaneous real smile between you and his mother and she will say in Chinese, "You have a beautiful daughter" and her son will translate it to your mom and then she will smile and say, "Thank you, and your son is a real pleasure to have around." and so forth...

Those social graces separate the women from the girls and the men from the boys.
