Well...it will definitely make them burn.

There are different reasons that people get canker sores (AKA ampthous ulcers). One cause is an acidic diet. Many people will experience more when they increase their consumption of citrus fruits like lemons, oranges grapefruits and even tomatos will contribute. Other factors can be stress, hormonal changes, sickness or injury.

Canker sores are NOT from the HPV OR Herpes virus....
"Cold sores" are caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus though.
You can tell the difference between the two by their location in the mouth. A medical or dental professional could easily diagnose which you are experiencing.

- Canker Sores are not viral, bacterial or herpes related (that would be a cold sore on the outside of your mouth.
- Canker Sores are an immune system response to trauma in the mouth (biting your mouth, a tiny cut from a potato chip, etc).
- Any acidic food or drink can make canker sores worse, but so can hormones, stress, braces, eating crunchy foods, not getting enough sleep, etc. So if you really like Orange Juice (and can stand the pain), don't deprive yourself.
- If you are really bothered by canker sores, there is a prescription paste called Aphthasol that speeds healing. Ask a dentist or dental hygienist for more info.

It won't make them worse, but sure won't feel good, because the acid will irritate the open sore.

Any acidic food will do that: tomato, orange, lemon, etc.

It is best to avoid acidic foods until your canker sore heals.

by the time you have a canker sore, the vitamin C you get from the OJ will not really help that particular sore to go away. acid is always helpful as a cleanser, but yes, it HURTS. try biting a raisin in half and then putting the exposed part onto your cankersore (also hurts, but helps. i guess most anything hurts when you place it directly on an open wound..but it will help it go away). when i get a cankersore, i usually buy a new toothbrush, and that also helps them heal faster (for me).

YES..IT DOES.. I haven't had a canker sore in a year. about 6 hours ago I drank an entire bottle of OJ. and my mouth is covered in them just 6 hours later. This happens every time I drink OJ. I took a pill I have for uric acid and they are nearly gone 20 minutes later. (indomethacin is the drug. Its for Gout.)

Canker Sores are Herpes virus. When you drink the orange juice you might feel some tingling because of the citric acid in the orange juice but Orange juice will not make the Cold sore worse it will straighten your immune system because Orange juice has vitamin C in it.

I don't think they should have any effect on canker sores.

It only makes it feel bad since the "sore" is open.
One of the best things to do with a sore especailly around your mouth is to wash it often with toothpaste. then cover it with a topical..

yes! very much! anything with acid in it (eg, orange lemon lime grapefruit etc.) makes it worse. and by the way if you want to get rid of it eating yogurt will help and swishing salt water in ur mouth will help heal it
