I can't tell you why people believe that. I CAN tell you that I am a Mormon and that we all believe that there is no other way to heaven than through the atoning sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Not a prayer is given, not an ordinance is performed, not a testimony is borne that it is not done in the name of Jesus Christ. We take the sacrament in remembrance of the blood and body of Jesus Christ. Our name (as you pointed out) is The Church of Jesus Christ..., our scriptures are testaments of Jesus Christ, in my office right now I can see two pictures of Jesus Christ. He is the only begotten Son of God. He was sent to earth to die for us that we could return to live with our Father in Heaven. I love Him and my life would be nothing without Him.

They believe they will become gods of there own world...that's ridicules !
They believe that Joseph Smith was a son of God, and was Jesus brother....incredibly ridicules !
They read from there own scriptures called the book of Mormon...the Bible says in Revaluation its forbidden to read from another book.
I went to a Mormon church to see my nieces baptised. And when these people got up to give there testimony the cried over Joseph Smith and was saying how grateful they was for him. Just as you might hear in a Christian Church when they tell with passion & tears how much they love and admire Jesus. I JUST COULDN'T BELIEVE MY EARS ! They were actuall worshipping Joseph Smith as we worship Christ !
This is no doubt a cult of people that are following the teachings of some very clevar conman. The teachings they go by can not be found in the Bible.
Didn't Jesus say if someone was teaching something contridicting the Bible then its doctrins of men ? And Jesus said that is very dangerious.
Find a Church that goes from the Bible & the Bible only & follows all Ten Commandments.

I know you use to be mormon, but then so did I, anyways, you should know that they have paganism in their faith/theology...man can become god, god was once man, and freemasondry...the temple and the rituals performed in it are not religious in nature. A person cannot call themselves christian when they know the Bible says that God is against oaganism and the mormons have some paganism in their belief, and yet wicca/christians try to do it to. They believe in becoming a God, so Jesus is not a big deal to them, just to pray for their sins and he died for them, but they have this long list of other things they must accomplish to, so Jesus is kind of in the background. They can't wear crosses either! This is a refusal to even acknowledge what their Savior even did for them, and their sacriment sucks, water instead of grape juice, come on now. Once again disrespecting Jesus and what he did. Joseph Smith is a big deal because he is the founder and they think he already has many wives and has probably evolved into a God.

For one reason they believe that JESUS was the Prince of some planet called Kolob or some such junk. They also believe that JESUS is a brother to satan. satan is a created being and JESUS is GOD in the flesh. They believe that GOD is up there in Heaven with these concubine "spirit" wives spawning babies who come to earth to get a body. They do believe in polygamy but only stoped it when it was declared against man's law. They believe that if Joseph Smith doest say that one can enter Heaven then that person can't get in. They believe that GOD AlMIGHTY was once a man who "rose" to the rank of GOD by HIS good works! They also believe that we can one day be elevated to the position of GOD of some other planet(although apparently not Kolob cause it's already taken.)
The way to tell if a belief system is a cult is that a cult will Always deny the Triune GOD.

Because they have a skewed perception of Jesus and believe that the devil is his brother (sounds crazy, but I'm being serious here). Also, they believe that God is coming to earth on a star called Kolab, and that good Mormons who have plenty of children will eventually be gods too.
There is a lot of interesting information about the LDS faith on the internet. It's probably best to read info from those who are no longer in the church, as some people just hate the religion and say terrible things about it when they don't really know much about it.
Personally, I'm not a believer in their faith, but I think Mormons overall are really nice people.

Because it is a different Gospel than what is taught in the bible. They have an ADDITION to the bible which revelation warns about. And... how can they not "believe" in Joseph Smith. He was a man. He existed. He founded the mormon church through his crystal ball. His parents were known pagans who practiced sorcery. Guess it rubbed off on him as well. You follow mormonism. You follow his teachings. Teachings that say that we are spirit brothers with Jesus and Satan. And that we can earn our way to various levels of Heaven. If we do it just right, we will be a god with our own universe. And so on and so on.
... none of this has anything to do with christianity.

Today there are many religions and sometimes they try to compete with another. A Christian is someone who believes in Jesus Christ. Mormons believe in Jesus Christ so they are Christians. Any religion that believes in Jesus Christ are Christians.

Years ago before I claimed what I believed, I invited 2 mormon missionaries to my home to explain it all to me. It did not make sense, it seemed arbitrary & I could never reconcile it with God. Then I went to a non-denominational bible teaching church and it didn't take me long to realize that it was true. Not only did it make sense, but God's word (the bible) gave me a peace I had never found anywhere else! Also, the bible & the history in it has never changed or claimed to be anything but what it says - many religions, including morminism have changed their stories many times - ? what does that tell you? I don't believe mormons are christians because they do not believe that Jesus Christ died for their sin, they also do not believe He is God. That right there says they deny His Diety. They will tell you they believe He was a great man. They also have appointed prophets in their church, God can only appoint a prophet, as He has throughout history. Take some time to read your bible & you'll see the difference.

Mormons believe Jesus is the brother of Satan and that God became God.
Doesn't sound Christian to me.

I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and YES, we are christian.
The only answer that I can think of is because of the devil. Satan is trying very hard to win the war, so he concoctes silly things like that to get men and women to reject the truth. Satan is very subtle, he wants us to be as miserable as he is, so he causes us to sin and plants silly notions like that in mankinds head.
Maybe the people who say we are not Christian, are the ones who know the truth but don't want to accept it for some reason.
