Is Iraq more dangerous now (casualty increase?) or when the war first started?

I am joinging the Army in a week, and with the troop increase I will probably be going to Iraq. Where are the most dangerous spots? Any additional information will be appriciated...

I think it is more dangerous now because the insurgents are learning how to kill and terrorize more efficiently. Each day and each group of people standing outside of buildings gives them lots of practice. If Israel does drop a nuclear bomb in Iran, then expect the fighting to intensify in Iraq and spread to the American shores as retribution.

I would say that it is more dangerous now because you don't know who the enemy is. I was there when the war first kicked off. I would hate to go back now (thats why I'm retiring next month). If you are a scout, MP, infantry, or similiar type of ground troop then you are in the most dangerous of situations because you are at risk oustide of the compound frequently. The Baghdad area is one of the worst right now. Wherever there are troops, there is danger.

Try to get out of it. What do you think many Vietnam soldiers would advise if you asked them. It is brave and courageous for you to offer your life for your country but isn't the validity of the cause important. I mean, if you served your country by invading Canada and committing genocide are you a noble soldier serving your country? Iraq isn't exactly that but its not a noble war. You are probably young and poor I'm guessing. Viewed as disposable by your society. Many soldiers end up in the military as it seems like their best option. If you are going over soon, how come you don't know these things already????? Very scary. You should know, and you should have been told. You could die. Is it worth it? Is anything worth it? Or you could get a serious injury, 10s of thousands of Americans have been seriously injured and many are ruined for life. Ask for what purpose. Think. Don't just listen to the robots saying thank you and blah blah propaganda.

Try to get out. Take a moment.....Think. Do they care about you and have your best interest or do I?
