Seems to me that ALL life is sacred, so why do I see so many people decrying abortion as "murder" but cheer on the execution of convicts? Aren't both fetuses and inmates capable of conversion or repentance either here or in the afterlife?

If there was no form of punishment for criminals then the crime rate would sky rocket. Take a look at Singapore for instance. They cane you for misdeameanors. They also happen to have a very low to nonexistant crime rate.
