For me it was in San Diego on the tip of Tijuana, Mexico with a window looking out onto a company which stored trucks and rocks in their yard. A little man would come out, pick up rocks, back up (beep! beep! beep! beep! beep! beep! beep! beep! beep! beep! beep! beep! beep! beep! from 5:30 - 7:00 a.m. daily), dump rocks, start again daily. He must have been the owners autistic son. But we drove to Coronado Island and to La Jolla every day and all was well.

Without a doubt The St George Hotel in NY. Many years ago...the bedspread was stained and filthy, the bathroom sink rusted and moldy. I stood in the room and cried for about a half hour, trying to ignore the party going on next door. this was supposed to be a night off for my husband and myself when the kids were babies...I had seen in some years before that and it was decent then as it may be now....but man oh man...we checked out after I finished crying but we still had to pay because we'd been in the room "long enough".
