Hi, I'm an Air Force wife and I'll answer as best I can.
As always, EVERYTHING depends on rank.
2. Depends on the base, housing waiting lists can range from 30 days to TWO years.
3. Again, depends on the area. We get a housing allowance based on the area.
This is all public information. You can do a search for the 2007 payscale and get the correct info for his branch and rank. It is IMPOSSIBLE to tell you the correct answer without knowing 1. What is his current rank and 2. Where is he stationed.
As far as I know, he cannot put his girlfriend as next of kin because she isn't. He can put her as a beneficiary on his insurance policies but she cannot be "next of kin" without marriage.

1. You don't get paid anything extra for being married, but there are other allowances that you are entitled to.
2. It depends on where you are stationed. I was stationed in Hawaii and it took over 1 year to get into housing. In San Diego a few years ago, it was 2-3 years for most areas (of course it depends on the persons rank).
3. See the link below and you can find out about all of the pay and allowances that active duty and active reserves or active duty for training reserves gets paid per month.
side question. The military member can designate anybody on his insurance form to receive the money on his death or if he goes missing in action (MIA). Since the girlfriend is not the next of kin, it would have to be somebody from his family or he could simply put down "No next of Kin". She could be put down as the emergency contact though.
Check out www.dod.gov or usmc.mil. they have all of the answers to just about every question that could possibly be asked. If you can't find the answer, you can always call on base and talk to somebody either in finance or personnel and they can get you the answer.

The extra pay for being married is a housing allowance which is approximately $527 for a young soldier (it depends on where you live and what rank you are). But, you only get this if you are living off base. If you live in government housing then you do not get this pay. The military member will get $280 (enlisted member) for food. Housing waiting list often ranges from 3 months to 2 years. It depends on the base, number of bedrooms needed, rank, etc...It also depends on which housing area that you want to live in (the average ones or the newer nice ones). Housing is being contracted on lots of bases now so things could change dramatically. If a military member is deployed then there is separation pay, hazardous duty pay, combat pay, etc..

1. how much "extra" does ur husband/wife get paid for being married? NONE.. the only increase would be for housing...
2. how long does it on average take to get into military house? depends on rank, how many bedrooms you are allowed
3. how much do u get paid for off base living? depends on your zip code. It goes by rank, and zip code for your BAH
oh and i got a side question
if he's not married and he doesnt want his mother or anyone in his family to be his next of kin can he put his gf? He can put down whomever he wants.
Lady Jane you are incorrect... A soldier when married just gets BAH with dependants.. doesnt matter how many., The only time you are going to get money for dependants is overseas when you get COLA, that is an amount for how many dependants you have up to a certain amount..

yes they do get more money if they are married and even more if you have a kid(s). how much depends on what his rank is. it not really that much.
as for wait into housing depends on where you live. you only want to live on base if you feel that the BHA (the money that you are given to find housing for) is something that you really can live off of. BHA rate depend on your zip code. when you live on base you don't pay rent, water, ele or gas. so you have to look the whole picture. money is one part and then there is the BS that come with living on base some milarty wifes think they wear their husbands rank too. in some ways they do like when making an apt on base with doc but these women also think that is also true when enter action with other women.
can he list her as his girlfreind as next of kin yes but only means that if he dies or is hurt they will call her. but that dose not give her any other rights. as would his mother or wife would have. life if she became ill she and was only a girl friend he would not be able leave on el. or if he became ill.
she needs to think had about what she is doing. if it's for the money don't do it. they been togather(like in the same city and enter acting with each other) for more then a year i say go with your gut. anything less then that is crap shoot at best. remember that if they do get married and he get shipped out she can not file for divoce till he comes back.

Army wife here:
1. The base pay doesn't change for being married.
2. It can take a long time, or a really short time.
3. For offpost living, check out usmilitary.about.com, and you can search by either enlisted, warrant or officer and city.

Get ready for a lot of lonely nights, if you plan to marry into the military with the way Bush is sending our troops to Iraq and keeping them there.

everything depends on rank and duty station the money fluctuates to the cost of living in that area. waiting list for housing vary to but usually a few months. and as far as deployments all i can say is if he is strong and she is too their relationship will weather anything that comes their way. good luck to them.
