Poor thing! I was 23 when I got my first migraine and I'm happy to say that I've only had 2 since. I hope it's the same way for her. Has this doctor performed an MRI or a CT scan? Not to alarm you, but there could be something more serious going on that is causing the migraines. If you're not 110% pleased with your dr and you don't feel like he's giving you answers, I would suggest getting a second opinion. Good luck!

My suggestions are for your daughter to see a specialist. A neurologist or a headache clinic are places to look for help. Cold packs on the head and neck always help ease the pain, laying in cool and dark places are very good too. Have your daughter keep a log of all the food and activities she eats every day and see if you can find a pattern. Sometimes food is the cause of a migraine, sometimes its activity or weather. A diary will help in determinig these factors. Go to your local library and look up books on migraines (avoid homeopathy and "natural" cure books). Find a neurologist or headache specialist ASAP.

I have suffered with migrains for years and my doctor prescribed Maxalt and they work every time in thirty minutes or less. My 24 year old daughter also has started having them and she just found out she is pregnant and is scared to take anything! Good luck to your daughter!

I'M AN EX MIGRAINE SUFFERER. I HAD MIGRAINES WHEN I WAS A CHILD. AND THEY LASTED UNTIL I I WENT THROUGH EARLY MENOPAUSE. I REALLY DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS A HORMONIAL, OR I WAS PUT ON A MEDICATION DURING THAT TIME FOR PANIC ATTACK AND THE PAMPLET THAT COMES WITH THE MEDICINE SAID IT WAS USED FOR SEVERAL MEDICAL PROBLEMS AND ONE WAS MIGRAINE HEADACHES. THE MEDICINE IS KLONOPIN. I REALLY UNDERSTAND AND ALL MY THOUGHTS ARE WITH HER. MINE WOULD LAST FOR 2 TO 3 DAYS AND THEN IT WOULD TAKE A FEW DAYS TO GET STRENGTH FROM FIGHTING THEM SO HARD AND THEN BY THAT TIME I WOULD HAVE ANOTHER MIGRAINE. GOD BLESS HER.

As I know, that can be from estrogen, if so that is really hard to have a deal with it, but to reduce amount and tesion, you can use soy products more, actually soy beans, soy milk e t c. and also you may not eating cheese. Cheese and red wine could lead bad headaches and migraine.
I'll be happy if it is useful for your daughter.

Avoid chocolate, almonds and foods with lots of colorants. Try to minimize her TV/computer hours, and if you can help her to avoid stress in any way itll help a lot. Shell also learn to detect Migraines before they get real hard, then she might want to take Tylenol or Advil to try to stop them.
